Gansu Container House with French Windows

Admin 17 de septiembre de 2026

There is no unified standard for whether container houses in Gansu are equipped with French windows, which depends on specific design and customization requirements. The following analysis is carried out from three aspects: the characteristics of container houses, the application possibilities of French windows, and actual cases in the Gansu region.

Structural Characteristics of Container Houses and Their Compatibility with French Windows

Container houses take standard containers as basic units, with their original structure being closed metal boxes. The wall thickness is usually 2-3 millimeters (for steel) or 10-15 centimeters (after adding insulation layers). If French windows are to be installed, the side walls of the containers need to be cut and modified. This process requires solving two major technical problems: structural strength compensation and waterproof sealing treatment. After cutting, steel structural reinforcement members should be added around the window frames to prevent deformation caused by local stress concentration. At the same time, professional sealing strips and waterproof coatings should be used to ensure the anti-seepage ability at the connection between the window frames and the container walls. The Gansu region has relatively strong winds and sand, so higher requirements are placed on the sealing process, and materials with stronger weather resistance need to be selected.

Practical Application Scenarios of French Windows in Container Houses

Currently, some customized container house projects in the market have achieved French window designs, but they are mostly concentrated in scenarios with high demands for lighting and landscapes, such as commercial exhibitions and cultural tourism homestays. For example, in a container homestay in a scenic spot in Zhangye, Gansu, the long side wall of the container is cut, and a full-length tempered glass French window is installed. Paired with electric sunshades and double-glazed windows, it not only meets the viewing needs but also solves the problem of large temperature differences between day and night in the northwest region through insulation layers and underfloor heating systems. Such designs require an additional 30%-50% increase in construction costs and need to plan transportation routes in advance (to avoid over-width). The construction period is 5-7 working days longer than that of ordinary container houses.

Conventional Configurations of Container Houses in Gansu and the Popularity of French Windows

According to industry research, more than 80% of container houses in Gansu Province are used for temporary on-site offices, warehousing, or post-disaster reconstruction. These projects focus more on cost and functionality and usually adopt standard window and door configurations (such as 1.2-meter × 1.5-meter aluminum alloy windows). French window designs are relatively rare. However, in some high-end container buildings in areas such as Lanzhou New District and Jiuquan Wind Power Base, French windows are available as personalized options, but customers need to make requests in advance and bear additional costs. It is worth noting that some regions in Gansu have long and cold winters. The thermal insulation performance of French windows needs to be improved through technical means such as increasing the number of glass layers (such as triple-glazed windows with two cavities) and filling with inert gases. Otherwise, it may affect indoor thermal comfort.
