Floor Renovation Mobile Toilet

Admin 22 de septiembre de 2026

Floor renovation for mobile toilets involves toilet displacement operations. Common methods include using a displacement device, raising the floor, creating a new hole or adopting a wall-drainage system, modifying the downstairs pipes, or adopting an indoor installation plan according to local conditions.

Common Toilet Displacement Methods

  • Using a displacement device: Suitable for small-scale and short-distance displacement, usually with a displacement distance of 10 - 30 centimeters and not exceeding 40 centimeters. Its advantages are minimal modification, low cost, and relatively simple construction. However, it has certain drawbacks, such as potentially affecting the flushing effect and increasing the risk of blockage. During construction, a slope of 1% - 3% needs to be reserved to ensure the smooth drainage of sewage.
  • Raising the floor: By building a base platform 180 - 200 millimeters high and embedding the sewage pipe inside the platform, it is suitable for longer displacement distances. This method offers relatively free layout options, allowing flexible adjustment of the toilet position according to actual needs. However, it raises the floor, which not only affects aesthetics but also brings inconvenience to daily use, such as potential safety hazards for the elderly and children.
  • Creating a new hole or adopting a wall-drainage system: Change the floor drainage to wall drainage, allowing the pipes to run along the wall. The advantage of this method is that it does not require raising the floor and makes it easy to conceal the pipes, resulting in a cleaner and more aesthetically pleasing bathroom. However, during implementation, it may be necessary to obtain the consent of the downstairs residents and redo the waterproofing to prevent leakage problems.
  • Modifying the downstairs pipes: Mainly applicable to inter-floor drainage systems. This method requires strict consent from the downstairs residents and the property management, and professional personnel should carry out pipe modifications downstairs. Due to the involvement of the rights and interests of the downstairs residents, there is a high risk of legal and neighbor disputes, so it is generally not the preferred option.

Other Feasible Solutions

During the renovation of "portable toilets" in Shanghai, different renovation paths are determined according to local conditions by adopting the approach of "one policy per district and one plan per project" based on different land conditions and housing conditions. For example, in the case of indoor installation, an independent kitchen and bathroom are added indoors without moving the original position, so residents do not need to move out, and their living habits do not need to be significantly adjusted. For instance, at No. 1543 Sichuan North Road, Hongkou District, the building was constructed in the 1920s, and there was no bathroom inside. Residents had been using portable toilets. Later, by making space to install an electric toilet, the toilet problem was solved.
