Flat Roof Cement Prefabricated
Admin 18 de septiembre de 2026
In rural single-story house construction, cement prefabricated panel roofs were once widely used, but they have significant drawbacks. Cast-in-place roofs are gradually becoming the mainstream, and prefabricated panels can be considered when the budget is limited and the area is not in an earthquake zone.

Advantages of Cement Prefabricated Panel Roofs
- Low Cost: Prefabricated panels are relatively inexpensive, and the construction speed is fast. Usually, roof hoisting can be completed in half a day, making them suitable for rural construction scenarios with limited budgets.
- Reasonable Design Life: Their designed service life is the same as that of brick-concrete structural walls, both being 50 years. After exceeding the designed service life, if structural safety is confirmed through professional inspection, they can still be used.
Drawbacks of Cement Prefabricated Panel Roofs
- Poor Waterproof Performance: About 80% of prefabricated panel roofs will experience water leakage problems, requiring annual waterproof treatment. The long-term maintenance cost is relatively high.
- Insufficient Earthquake Resistance: Prefabricated panels are integral hoisting structures, and the connections are prone to loosening or breaking during earthquakes. There is a risk of collapse in earthquake-prone areas, so they are not suitable for use in such regions.
- Weak Thermal Insulation: The 12-centimeter-thick hollow floor slabs have poor heat insulation performance. The indoor temperature is high in summer and low in winter, and additional covering materials such as cinder are usually required to improve thermal insulation.
Applicable Scenarios and Alternative Solutions
- Applicable Scenarios: If the budget is limited, the area is not in an earthquake zone, and water leakage and thermal insulation drawbacks can be accepted, cement prefabricated panel roofs can still be an economical choice.
- Alternative Solutions: Cast-in-place cement roofs are gradually becoming the mainstream due to their good integrity, high safety, and strong earthquake resistance. Although their construction period is longer than that of prefabricated panels, the long-term maintenance cost is low, and there is no need to worry about earthquake resistance and thermal insulation issues.
Summary: Cement prefabricated panel roofs are suitable for rural single-story houses with tight budgets and in non-earthquake zones, but their waterproof, earthquake-resistant, and thermal insulation drawbacks need to be weighed. Although cast-in-place roofs have higher costs, their comprehensive performance is better and they are the recommended solution for long-term use.
