Movement of Female Toilet Icon
The 'tide toilet' in Guangdong Huizhou West Lake Scenic Area once featured a manually movable female toilet icon, but this design has been removed due to potential hazards. Here are the details:

Design Overview: At the entrance of a 'tide toilet' in Guangdong Huizhou West Lake Scenic Area, there was a manually adjustable sign that could be switched between genders by sliding it left or right. The original intention of this design was likely to flexibly accommodate variations in the number of male and female toilet users at different times. For instance, during periods of high demand for female toilets, some male toilets could be temporarily converted to female toilets, with the icon moved to indicate the current gender designation of the toilet.
Controversy: However, this design sparked considerable controversy. Due to its low threshold for modification, ordinary tourists could freely change the sign, leading to potential confusion between male and female toilet areas. For example, a tourist might move the sign to the wrong gender direction without authorization, causing other tourists to enter the wrong toilet area. This not only creates toilet chaos and affects the normal usage experience of tourists but may also lead to serious issues such as privacy breaches. If a male enters a female toilet or vice versa, they might see other individuals using the toilet, which undoubtedly constitutes an invasion of privacy.
Subsequent Actions: In light of the aforementioned hazards, all movable signs in the involved tide toilets have been removed and replaced with fixed slot-type doorplates. Fixed slot-type doorplates effectively prevent tourists from freely changing the signs, ensuring accurate gender designations on the toilets and thereby safeguarding the toilet order and privacy of tourists. This improvement measure reflects the scenic area's attention to tourist needs and timely correction of management issues, contributing to enhancing the overall service quality and image of the scenic area.
