Container House Design for Homestays

Admin 17 de septiembre de 2026

Container houses possess unique charm and practicality in homestay design, with wide applications, short construction periods, environmental protection, energy efficiency, and the ability to integrate regional cultural elements.

Unique Design and Space Utilization

Container houses showcase rich creativity in homestay design. For instance, there is a homestay constructed from three containers, where two standard containers are stacked vertically, with one side cantilevered outwards. Beneath them lies a customized, widened container serving as the main body of the first floor. This design not only incorporates a staircase leading to the second floor but also features large observation windows that blend indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly. The 138-square-meter indoor living area is complemented by an equally spacious outdoor area. The flat roof is transformed into a terrace, and a shaded corridor is formed beneath the cantilevered container, greatly enriching the spatial hierarchy and functionality. There are also creative examples of homestays built with two containers, as well as luxurious container houses with three-bedroom designs that are both comfortable and practical, meeting the needs of different customer groups.

Construction Period and Environmental Protection & Energy Efficiency

The construction period for container homestays is short, with the process from design to opening taking as little as 45 days. This significantly reduces construction time compared to traditional buildings, allowing for quicker entry into operation and generating economic benefits for investors. Meanwhile, container homestays often achieve environmental protection and energy efficiency through systems such as photovoltaic power generation and rainwater harvesting, reducing reliance on traditional energy sources, lowering operating costs, and aligning with current green and sustainable development concepts.

Application Scenarios and Integration with Regional Culture

Container homestays can adapt to various terrain environments and are widely used in tourist attractions and rural areas. In China, container homestay projects can be found in places like Mogan Mountain in Zhejiang, Dali in Yunnan, Yangshuo in Guilin, and Yangshan Island in Lianyungang, Jiangsu. Some projects also attempt to incorporate regional cultural elements, such as paper-cutting art and brick carvings, making the homestays not only functional for accommodation but also windows showcasing regional culture, enhancing their cultural connotations and appeal. In the context of rural revitalization, container homestays are also used to revitalize idle resources, develop rural tourism, and inject new vitality into rural economic development.
