Relocating the Dog Toilet
The dog toilet can be relocated, but measures should be taken to help the dog adapt to the new location after moving it, to prevent it from defecating randomly due to the inability to find familiar scents.

Firstly, completely eliminating scent residues from the original location is crucial. Dogs rely on their sense of smell to locate their elimination areas. If the original location still has scents, it may interfere with their judgment. Clean the original area with a mop, then wipe it with a cloth containing disinfectant and toilet water, and finally spray a pet-specific deodorizer to ensure thorough removal of residual scents. This step reduces the likelihood of the dog returning to the original location due to "old markers."
Secondly, make the new location the only area with elimination scents. Transfer a small amount of the dog's feces or urine to the new toilet, or place a tissue soaked with its excreta at the new location, using the scent to guide the dog to recognize the new area. Dogs have a keen sense of smell and will actively seek out the new toilet using scent cues.
Furthermore, combine positive reinforcement to strengthen memory. When the dog successfully eliminates at the new location, immediately reward it with treats or gentle praise, forming a conditioned reflex of "correct behavior = positive feedback." Meanwhile, maintain consistent guidance at fixed times, such as before walking the dog in the morning and evening or half an hour after meals, take the dog to the vicinity of the new toilet, patiently wait for it to eliminate, and repeated training can accelerate habit formation.
Finally, the relocation process should be gradual. If the dog has difficulty adapting to the new location, temporarily place items with its scent (such as an old mat) between the old and new locations for a gradual transition. Avoid frequently changing locations, as this can easily confuse the dog and prolong the adaptation period.
By eliminating old scents, reinforcing new scents, using positive reinforcement, and maintaining consistent guidance, dogs can usually adapt to the new toilet location within 1-2 weeks. If the dog continues to defecate randomly, check for health issues (such as urinary system diseases) or environmental stressors (such as new pets or noise), and consult a veterinarian or behavior trainer if necessary.
