Does a One-Story House Have Prefabricated Panels?
Admin 19 de septiembre de 2026
One-story houses can use prefabricated panels. Prefabricated panels are building components that are prefabricated in a factory and then transported to the construction site for installation. Under specific circumstances, using prefabricated panels for one-story houses is feasible. The following provides an introduction from three aspects: applicable scenarios, usage precautions, and construction key points.

Applicable Scenarios
- Temporary Buildings: For some temporarily constructed one-story houses, such as temporary dormitories on construction sites and temporary warehouses, using prefabricated panels allows for quick construction to meet short-term usage needs. Moreover, they are relatively convenient to dismantle, enabling the reuse of components and reducing construction costs.
- Limited Budget: The production process of prefabricated panels is relatively standardized, enabling mass production and relatively low costs. For one-story house construction with a limited budget, such as self-built one-story bungalows in rural areas, choosing prefabricated panels can effectively control construction costs while ensuring certain structural performance.
- Poor Geological Conditions: In areas with poor geological conditions, such as soft soil foundations, using prefabricated panels can reduce the self-weight of the house, decrease the pressure on the foundation, and lower the difficulty and cost of foundation treatment.
Usage Precautions
- Load-Bearing Limit of Single Panels: Prefabricated panels have a clear load-bearing capacity limit, generally not exceeding 200 kg/㎡ for a single panel. During the design and usage process, it is necessary to reasonably plan the load distribution within the house to avoid excessive local loads that could damage the prefabricated panels.
- Joint Treatment: The joints between prefabricated panels are weak points in the structure and require careful treatment. Usually, methods such as grouting and attaching fiber cloth are used to enhance the strength and integrity of the joints, preventing the generation and expansion of cracks.
- Seismic Performance: The overall integrity and seismic performance of prefabricated panel structures are relatively poor. In earthquake-prone areas, additional seismic measures need to be taken, such as setting seismic joints and strengthening connection nodes, to improve the seismic capacity of the house.
Construction Key Points
- Foundation Requirements: Prefabricated panels have high requirements for the foundation. The foundation must be flat and solid, capable of bearing the loads transmitted by the prefabricated panels. Before construction, strict inspection and treatment of the foundation are required.
- Installation Sequence: The installation of prefabricated panels needs to be carried out in a certain sequence, generally starting from one end and progressing to the other end to ensure tight and neat connections between the panels.
- Waterproofing Treatment: After the installation of prefabricated panels is completed, waterproofing treatment is required to prevent rainwater from leaking into the interior. Waterproof coatings can be applied or waterproof membranes can be laid at the panel joints.
