Dampness in Container Houses

Admin 15 de septiembre de 2026

Dampness in container houses can be addressed through methods such as enhancing ventilation, using dehumidification equipment, placing moisture-absorbing materials, inspecting and repairing leakage points, and improving the insulation performance of container houses.

  1. Enhancing ventilation: Open windows regularly every day to create air convection. Especially during the low-humidity period from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on sunny days, it is advisable to open both north and south windows simultaneously to accelerate the expulsion of moisture. During the plum rain season, electric fans can be used to enhance ventilation efficiency. High-humidity areas such as bathrooms and kitchens require extended ventilation times of over 30 minutes.
  2. Using dehumidification equipment: Select a household dehumidifier with a daily dehumidification capacity of over 12 liters and place it in the center of the room for operation. Setting the humidity value within the range of 50%-60% can balance comfort and energy efficiency. The water tank should be emptied daily to prevent secondary evaporation. The dehumidification mode of air conditioners can also be used, but care should be taken to avoid excessively low room temperatures. For special scenarios such as hazardous chemical container houses, explosion-proof dehumidifiers with multi-unit and constant temperature and humidity capabilities should be selected to ensure rapid reduction of humidity to a safe threshold in high-humidity environments.
  3. Placing moisture-absorbing materials: Place activated carbon bags or calcium chloride dehumidification boxes in enclosed spaces such as wardrobes and drawers, with 200 grams of moisture-absorbing agents per square meter. Quicklime and silica gel desiccants are suitable for hidden corners such as under beds and should be replaced monthly. Bamboo charcoal products have both moisture-absorbing and air-purifying functions and can be used cyclically for a long time.
  4. Inspecting and repairing leakage points: Focus on inspecting hidden leakage points such as bathroom waterproof layers, balcony floor drains, and air conditioner condensation pipes, and use waterproof tape to temporarily repair cracks. Old houses should be checked for signs of water seepage on exterior walls, and the joints between window frames and walls can be filled with expanding foam. For persistent water seepage problems, contact a professional waterproofing company for treatment.
  5. Improving the insulation performance of container houses: The metal material of container houses has strong thermal conductivity and is prone to condensation due to temperature differences. In winter, use underfloor heating or oil-filled radiators to maintain a room temperature above 18°C and avoid condensation on cold walls. Apply insulation film to glass windows to reduce condensation, and install anti-fog mirrors in north-facing rooms.
