How Much Does Prefabricated Housing Cost?

Admin 18 de septiembre de 2026

The cost of prefabricated housing varies depending on the type and configuration, mainly falling into two categories: expandable container houses and cement prefabricated houses.

Expandable Container Houses

Expandable container houses are relatively expensive. Taking a 70-square-meter, well-decorated example, the cost of the house itself is approximately $15,800. However, this is not the final delivered price; additional charges such as freight and customs duties must be added. After comprehensive calculation, the total delivered price is about $28,689, equivalent to approximately 200,000 yuan. This type of housing typically features rapid deployment and high mobility, making it suitable for temporary residences and construction site offices. However, its high cost limits its application in large-scale residential construction.

Cement Prefabricated Houses

Cement prefabricated houses are more affordable and vary significantly by region and configuration. The base price per square meter (including factory production and quality inspection) ranges from 220 to 250 yuan. Upon delivery to the construction site, an additional 50 yuan is required for installation on frames. In Henan, the all-inclusive price for an ordinary residential house is approximately slightly over 300 yuan per square meter. However, for higher-quality options, such as adding advanced configurations like photovoltaic power generation, an additional 50 to 100 yuan per square meter is needed. It is important to note that the 300 yuan quoted by many merchants is often just the rough-in price; when actual costs like water and electricity installation are included, the price per square meter rises to 800 to 1000 yuan. Cement prefabricated houses are widely used in rural self-built housing and temporary resettlement housing due to their cost-effectiveness and rapid construction speed.

In summary, the cost of prefabricated housing is influenced by various factors, including housing type, configuration, and region. When choosing a prefabricated housing solution, it is essential to consider your own needs and budget. If rapid deployment and mobility are priorities, expandable container houses are a good choice; if cost-effectiveness and practicality are more important, cement prefabricated houses are more suitable.
