Container Transport Truck

Admin 16 de septiembre de 2026

Container transport trucks are commonly known as container carriers or container trucks. Here is a detailed introduction from different aspects:

Definition and Function

Container carriers are cargo trucks specifically designed for transporting standard containers. They load a wide variety of goods with different shapes and sizes into specially made standard-sized containers before transportation, enabling mechanized and standardized loading, unloading, and transportation. This represents a major reform in traditional transportation methods and is an important part of modernizing transportation. Their core function is to achieve efficient and safe transfer of goods. They adopt an integrated structural design with high strength to meet the load-bearing requirements during transportation and support the operation mode of directly changing containers during the journey.

Vehicle Types

  • Standard Models: With an overall length of about 16 meters, they can accommodate 20-foot or 40-foot standard containers. They are the main models for logistics transportation and are suitable for medium- and short-distance trunk lines from ports to logistics parks as well as cross-city distribution.
  • Short-wheelbase Trucks (Single-container Transport Trucks): With an overall length of about 10 meters, they are specially designed for urban distribution. They are highly flexible with a small turning radius, making them suitable for complex environments such as narrow roads in old urban areas and underground garages in residential areas. They usually carry 20-foot containers.
  • Double-trailer Container Trucks: Also with an overall length of about 16 meters, they can carry two 20-foot containers. They have high transportation efficiency and can effectively reduce unit transportation costs, making them suitable for scenarios such as e-commerce promotion warehousing and transfer and long-distance transportation of bulk goods.
  • Special Extra-long Models: With an overall length of over 20 meters, they are mainly used for transporting non-demountable large equipment such as engineering machinery and large generators. They are oversized vehicles and need to obtain an oversized transportation permit before hitting the road. Moreover, there are restrictions on most roads.

Regulatory Restrictions

According to the national standard GB1589 - 2016 Dimensions, Axle Loads and Limits of Automobiles, Trailers and Combinations of Vehicles, the maximum length of a semi-trailer transporting a 45-foot container is 13.95 meters, with a width not exceeding 2.55 meters and a height not exceeding 4 meters. At the same time, container carriers and semi-trailers must be of a single-layer frame structure, and movable or flippable frames are prohibited.
