Container Renovation Elevated Roof House

Admin 15 de septiembre de 2026

Container renovation with an elevated roof is an innovative and practical building method. Through reasonable design and renovation, containers can be transformed into fully functional and comfortable living spaces. The following introduces this from three aspects: renovation methods, actual cases, and precautions.

Renovation Methods

  • Space Expansion: By raising the roof of the container, the indoor vertical space can be increased. For example, two sisters transformed a 12-meter container into a 30㎡ luxury villa with a terrace. Through roof raising and reasonable layout, they achieved maximum space utilization.
  • Functional Zoning: Divide different functional areas according to needs, such as living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, and bathrooms. For instance, in four high-appeal container renovation cases, the first floor includes multiple functional areas such as a living room, kitchen, and washroom, while the second floor has guest rooms and a studio, meeting diverse living needs.
  • Decoration and Renovation: Use decorative materials and design techniques to enhance living comfort and aesthetics. For example, a Danish guy decorated various parts of the house and designed large windows; in a successful container transformation case, the exterior was painted with black smooth paint and the interior with natural wood color, creating a warm atmosphere.

Actual Cases

  • Family Residence: A Danish guy used nine containers to renovate a family residence, retaining the unique corrugated metal of the containers inside, decorating them, and designing large windows to provide natural light.
  • Commercial Venue: A mountain resort hotel abroad is composed of six containers, built on a mountain according to the terrain, forming a courtyard in the middle. The rooms have large floor-to-ceiling windows and exquisite interior decorations.
  • Small B&B: A small B&B hotel composed of four 6-meter-long containers has technical rooms such as sanitary facilities on the ground floor and guest rooms. There are four guest rooms on the upper floor sharing a terrace, and the rooms have small round windows connected to the surrounding landscape.

Precautions

  • Structural Safety: Ensure that the renovated house is structurally stable and meets building safety requirements. For example, placing containers on the roof requires professional design evaluation to ensure that the placement does not affect the safety of the building.
  • Waterproofing and Fire Prevention: Properly handle the waterproofing and fire prevention of the containers. Apply waterproof glue on the roof to extend its service life and use fire-resistant materials for decoration.
  • Legality and Compliance: Follow the prescribed procedures to apply to relevant departments and obtain permits. Build in accordance with building safety, planning, and other requirements to avoid being identified as illegal construction.
