Transforming Container Houses into Soundproof Rooms

Admin 15 de septiembre de 2026

Container houses can be transformed into soundproof rooms through various methods, with the key lying in material selection, structural design, and construction techniques.

Material Selection

  • Soundproofing Materials: Rock wool is commonly used for filling in container house renovations. It not only has strong fire resistance but also effectively absorbs and blocks sound transmission. Additionally, professional soundproofing felts and foam boards can be selected. These materials have good soundproofing properties and can significantly reduce the intrusion of external noise.
  • Sealing Materials: Use sealants to seal the gaps in containers and the edges of doors and windows, preventing sound from propagating through these gaps. Good sealing can reduce sound leakage and improve overall soundproofing effects.

Structural Design

  • Increasing Wall Thickness: Add one or more layers of soundproof walls inside the container, such as a structure with double layers of gypsum boards filled with soundproofing cotton in between, which can effectively enhance soundproofing performance.
  • Optimizing Door and Window Design: Choose doors and windows with good soundproofing properties, such as double-glazed windows, which have better sealing and soundproofing effects than ordinary single-glazed windows. At the same time, ensure that the doors and windows are installed firmly without gaps to reduce sound intrusion.

Construction Techniques

  • Suspension Technique: For low-frequency resonant noise, the suspension technique can be used for treatment. This technique disconnects the rigid connections between solids through an air layer, completely cutting off sound bridges and achieving 'vibration isolation', thereby effectively reducing the propagation of low-frequency noise.
  • Overall Soundproofing Treatment: Conduct soundproofing treatment on the top, walls, and floor of the container to form a closed soundproof space. For example, lay soundproofing mats on the floor and install soundproofing boards on the walls and top.

Practical Application Cases

Some customized packing-box units and integrated houses fully consider soundproofing and thermal insulation properties during the design and manufacturing process, adopting air-gap thermal insulation designs with excellent soundproofing effects. This shows that through reasonable design and construction, container houses can be completely transformed into living or working spaces that meet soundproofing requirements.
