Container House Specifications and Models

Admin 17 de septiembre de 2026

Container houses come in a variety of specifications and models, primarily categorized into four types: international shipping system specifications, residential-use common specifications, construction site temporary and special specifications, and customized specifications. Details are as follows:

Basic specifications under the international shipping system are based on standardized containers, with common models including 20-foot standard containers (20GP), 40-foot standard containers (40GP), and 40-foot high cube containers (40HC/HQ). The external dimensions of a 20GP are 6.058m (length) × 2.438m (width) × 2.591m (height), with internal dimensions of 5.898m × 2.352m × 2.393m and a volume of approximately 33 cubic meters; the external dimensions of a 40GP are 12.192m × 2.438m × 2.591m, with internal dimensions of 12.032m × 2.352m × 2.393m and a volume of approximately 67 cubic meters; the external dimensions of a 40HC are 12.192m × 2.438m × 2.896m, with internal dimensions of 12.032m × 2.352m × 2.698m and a volume of approximately 76 cubic meters. These specifications, conforming to international shipping standards, facilitate easy transportation and stacking, and are commonly used as foundational units for temporary warehousing or modular construction.

Residential-use common specifications prioritize living comfort and are typically based on the modification or combination of standard containers. For single-container small units, a 20GP single-container residence has an indoor area of approximately 14 square meters, while a 10-foot mini container (non-standard customization) has an indoor area of about 7 square meters, suitable for single occupants or small families. Dual-container or multi-container combined residences expand space through horizontal or vertical splicing; for example, a horizontally combined 40GP has a width of 4.876m and an indoor area of about 28 square meters, while a vertically extended 40HC can have a single-container length of up to 12m, allowing for design as a two-bedroom or open-plan space.

Construction site temporary and special specifications are flexibly adjusted according to usage scenarios, with common models including 6055mm × 2990mm × 2896mm, 3m × 6m × 2.7m, etc. These specifications typically simplify the structure to reduce costs and are suitable for temporary offices, dormitories, or construction site warehouses. Additionally, a 45-foot container has a volume of approximately 86 cubic meters, with spacious interior space suitable for use as a large open space, such as a conference room or activity room.

Customized specifications break free from standard limitations based on user needs, such as widening containers to a width of 2.8-3.2m (requiring oversized transportation) to enhance interior horizontal space. Manufacturers can also customize small single rooms measuring 3 meters by 3 meters or create 6-meter by 3-meter suites through splicing, meeting personalized living or office requirements. Customized specifications must consider transportation, installation, and structural safety, typically suitable for long-term fixed-use scenarios.
