Container House Sealant

Admin 16 de septiembre de 2026

The commonly used sealants and sealing strips for container houses are based on butyl rubber, ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), neoprene, or silicone. They come in forms such as single-component sealants, foamed sealing strips, and vulcanized integrated molding strips. The specific choice depends on the sealing location, environmental conditions, and performance requirements.

1. Types and Characteristics of Sealants

  1. Butyl Rubber-Based Sealant
Mainly in single-component form, it has extremely strong anti-permeability and can form a dense waterproof film, suitable for sealing joints between metals or between metals and other materials. Its low air permeability, aging resistance, and corrosion resistance make it a common choice for container welds, roof expansion joints, etc. For example, Jitai 123 neoprene adhesive achieves a tight bond with metals through its neoprene base, does not come off during thermal expansion and contraction, dries quickly, and does not sag, making it suitable for weld leakage repair and truck body panel joint sealing.

  2. Neutral Silicone/Polyurethane Sealant
Neutral silicone sealant has excellent weather resistance and elastic recovery rate, suitable for container doors, windows, exterior wall joints, and other scenarios that require long-term exposure to the outdoors. Polyurethane sealant excels in high strength and wear resistance, but its aging resistance may be weaker than that of silicone types.

2. Types and Processes of Sealing Strips

  1. Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) Sealing Strip
EPDM sealing strips have core advantages of high and low-temperature resistance, aging resistance, and high elasticity, suitable for fixed sealing of container door frames, side doors, and cabinets. For example, the EPDM sealing strips provided by Hebei Yaxiang Rubber Products Co., Ltd. have passed in-depth factory inspections, have a monthly sales volume of 1,838 pieces, support customization of irregular specifications, and meet different gap size requirements.

  2. Vulcanized Integrated Molding Sealing Strip
For easily leaking parts such as door frame corners, the vulcanized integrated molding process uses high-temperature molding to cross-link and cure rubber molecules, forming a continuous, joint-free sealing structure around the entire circle. For example, the Coolstick container airtight door uses EPDM special weather-resistant rubber. After vulcanization at 160°C, the corner sealing performance is improved by more than three times, meeting IP65 and above protection standards.

3. Key Performance Indicators and Testing Standards

Container sealing materials need to meet multiple technical indicators, including specific gravity, sagging, low-temperature flexibility, tensile strength, and weather resistance. Testing items cover appearance, surface drying time, tensile adhesion, performance after water-ultraviolet irradiation, etc., in accordance with standards such as JT/T 811-2011 'Container Sealant' and the GB/T 13477 series 'Test Methods for Building Sealing Materials' to ensure the long-term stability of the materials under extreme environmental conditions.
