Container House Roof Protection

Admin 14 de septiembre de 2026

For container house roof protection, it is essential to focus on material selection, structural design, and routine maintenance, with the core goal of enhancing waterproofing, sun protection, corrosion resistance, and thermal insulation performance.

1. Material Selection and Protective Layer Design

Container roofs are constantly exposed to the outdoors, so it is crucial to prioritize materials with strong weather resistance. Rock wool boards are a common choice, featuring a double-layer structure (first rock wool board + second rock wool board) with a ventilation layer in between. This design helps dissipate heat and prevent high temperatures in summer, while the double-layer thickening in winter improves warmth retention and offers significant waterproofing effects. Additionally, color-coated steel sheets are widely used for roof protection, with their surface coatings enhancing UV resistance and rust prevention capabilities. However, it is necessary to regularly inspect the integrity of the coating to avoid corrosion caused by scratches. For temporary or low-cost projects, PVC fabrics or membrane structures can serve as lightweight alternatives, offering waterproofing and aging resistance properties, but attention must be paid to secure fastening to prevent damage from strong winds.

2. Structural Optimization and Drainage Design

The roof slope design directly affects drainage efficiency. It is recommended to adopt a slope of 3%-5% to ensure rapid water runoff and prevent water accumulation and infiltration. Ventilation holes should be installed at the edge beams (as in the design of double-layer rock wool board structures) to facilitate ventilation and heat dissipation, while also balancing internal and external air pressure to reduce structural deformation caused by temperature differences. Furthermore, gutter systems should be installed along the roof edges to direct rainwater to the ground drainage system, preventing splashing onto the walls and causing corrosion.

3. Routine Maintenance and Protective Measures

  1. Sun and Rain Protection: Unused containers should be covered with sunshades or specialized protective covers to prevent material aging caused by direct sunlight. Before the rainy season, check the roof's sealing performance and promptly repair any cracks or holes.
  2. Scratch and Impact Prevention: During transportation or use, avoid obstacles to prevent scratches to the roof protective layer. If the surface coating is damaged, immediately apply touch-up paint or cover with anti-corrosion patches.
  3. Regular Cleaning: Remove dust, leaves, and other debris from the roof to prevent clogging of drainage holes or corrosion of material surfaces.

4. Protective Solutions for Special Scenarios

For coastal or high-humidity areas, it is necessary to strengthen anti-corrosion treatment, such as using galvanized steel sheets or increasing the thickness of anti-corrosion coatings. In cold regions, the thickness of the roof insulation layer can be increased, or materials with low thermal conductivity (such as polyurethane foam) can be selected to reduce heat loss.
