Container House Roof Protection Measures
Roof protection for container houses should comprehensively take measures from aspects such as anti-corrosion, wind reinforcement, lightning protection, thermal insulation, and work safety according to the usage scenarios and requirements. Details are as follows:

Anti-corrosion and Anti-aging
The roof of container houses, which is exposed to the natural environment for a long time, needs to be protected from sun exposure and rain. Unused containers should be stored in shaded and rainproof areas to prevent metal surface oxidation caused by direct sunlight and rusting caused by rainwater penetration. For containers in use, the roof coating should be regularly inspected. If scratches or damage to the protective layer are found, timely repairs should be made to prevent corrosive substances (such as rainwater and salt spray) from eroding the metal structure and shortening the service life.
Wind Reinforcement
In the event of typhoons or strong winds, the roof of container houses needs to be structurally reinforced to reduce risks. In storage scenarios, the stacking height of containers should not exceed 4 layers. Anti-slip pads should be placed between layers, and they should be horizontally connected with lashing rods or steel wires. The upper and lower layers should be fixed with twist locks, and anti-collision columns or sandbags should be added at the ends. In transportation scenarios, the containers should be fixed to the vehicles with lashing straps, and corner fittings and vehicle fixing devices should be selected as connection points to ensure stability during transportation.
Lightning Protection and Insulation
The roof of container houses is connected to the foundation with steel structures and has a Faraday cage effect, which can quickly dissipate lightning currents. Insulating materials should be used indoors, and no additional lightning protection equipment is required during thunderstorms. If the project location has frequent thunderstorms, lightning rods, lightning strips, or lightning protection nets can be added to further reduce the risk of lightning strikes.
Thermal Insulation Treatment
Thermal insulation of the roof of container houses can be achieved through material optimization. Common solutions include:
- Using new building materials composed of black steel plates and polystyrene foam to improve thermal insulation performance;
- Increasing the thickness of the foam layer during construction or using thermal insulation materials such as rock wool;
- Installing thermal insulation coatings or reflective films on the roof to reduce heat absorption.
Work Safety Protection
If work (such as maintenance and inspection) needs to be carried out on the roof of container houses, detachable safety posts should be equipped. This device is connected through standard container lock holes, with a length of 86 cm and a diameter of 3 cm. It is composed of 15 universal parts and has the characteristics of being "detachable", "stable and reliable", and "user-friendly design". It can effectively limit the range of movement of workers and prevent falling accidents.
