Advantages and Disadvantages of Container House Prices

Admin 16 de septiembre de 2026

The prices of container houses vary depending on configuration, region, and purpose. In China, the price of conventional models ranges from 6,000 to 25,000 yuan per set, while high-end customized models can reach tens of thousands of yuan or even higher. Their advantages include low cost, fast construction, high flexibility, and durability and environmental friendliness, while the main disadvantages are poor thermal and sound insulation, limited space, and high decoration costs.

Price Range

  1. Basic Model Prices: In North China, the price of a simple basic model (one door, three windows, and basic electrical circuits) ranges from 6,000 to 8,500 yuan per set, while a 3×6-meter standard fully decorated model (including floor glue and complete water and electricity supply) costs between 8,500 and 12,000 yuan per set. In extremely cold regions such as Khorgos, Xinjiang, due to the need for thicker insulation layers and wind and snow resistance designs, the price of basic models rises to between 8,500 and 11,000 yuan per set, and fully decorated models reach between 11,000 and 15,000 yuan per set, which is 15%-30% more expensive than in North China.
  2. High-End Customized Model Prices: In the US market, the cost of container houses ranges from $25,000 to $250,000 (approximately 180,000 to 1.8 million yuan), depending on factors such as house size, number of containers, foundation installation, labor costs, and utility installations. In China, high-end customized models (such as Japanese-style container houses and fire-resistant, waterproof, moisture-proof, wind-resistant, earthquake-resistant, and rain-resistant models) generally cost more than 20,000 yuan, with some products being even more expensive due to the use of special materials or designs.

Advantages

  1. High Cost-Effectiveness: Container houses use existing containers as basic materials, saving a significant amount of construction time and cost. They can also be reused, extending their service life and avoiding resource waste.
  2. Fast Construction Speed: Standardized design and production methods simplify the construction process. Leading companies in the industry can complete 70% of the construction work in factories, significantly shortening on-site installation time.
  3. High Flexibility: They can be quickly assembled, relocated, and disassembled according to needs, adapting to different construction scenarios such as temporary construction site offices, emergency accommodations, and mobile office spaces.
  4. Durability and Environmental Friendliness: The steel structure design provides high strength and durability, enabling them to withstand harsh weather and natural disasters. Factory low-carbon prefabrication and on-site construction with 'zero' pollution align with the concept of low-carbon environmental protection.

Disadvantages

  1. Poor Thermal and Sound Insulation: Due to differences in materials used in low-end products, thermal and sound insulation performance cannot be guaranteed. It is necessary to choose products from manufacturers with quality assurance, which usually double the price.
  2. Poor Sound Insulation: Metal materials have good sound transmission properties, so sound insulation performance may be poor, requiring additional sound insulation treatment.
  3. Limited Space: A single container has a relatively small area, and the waterproofing of joints needs regular maintenance, with high decoration costs.
