Reasons for Leakage in Container Houses

Admin 16 de septiembre de 2026

Common reasons for leakage in container houses include loosening and aging of fasteners, unqualified waterproof materials, improper handling of cracks around openings, design and construction defects in gutters, and workmanship issues, as detailed below:

Fastener-related Issues

During the installation and use of container houses, stepping on the roof can cause fasteners to loosen. Additionally, the waterproof gaskets of fasteners will age over time, leading to leakage in the fasteners. For example, fasteners such as roof screws may fail to seal effectively due to the above reasons, allowing rainwater to seep into the house through gaps.

Waterproof Material and Handling Issues

During the construction of mobile houses, if unqualified waterproof materials are selected or the waterproofing treatment is unreasonable, leakage is likely to occur as the container mobile houses age. For instance, using low-quality waterproof coatings can result in a rapid decline in their waterproofing performance over time, making them unable to block rainwater infiltration.

Crack Issues Around Openings

When openings are made in the panels of mobile houses for the installation of various fans, exhaust pipes, and other equipment, improper waterproofing of the surrounding cracks can leave a potential for leakage. Moreover, during use, factors such as external conditions, wind loads, snow loads, and thermal expansion and contraction can cause deformation of the mobile house panels, leading to the expansion of cracks at the joints and damaging the original waterproofing treatment, thus triggering leakage.

Gutter Design and Construction Issues

If the gutters of mobile houses have no horizontal slope or if the gutter outlets are designed unreasonably, during heavy rain, the accumulated water in the gutters cannot be drained in a timely manner and may flow back into the inner eaves of the gutters. Additionally, if the gutter corrosion protection is inadequate during the construction of mobile houses, the gutters may rust and erode, or debris may block the outlets, resulting in leakage or backflow.

Workmanship Issues

The joints at both ends of the iron sheet layer on the roof of box-type houses need to be sealed with structural adhesive. If the structural adhesive is not applied properly, rainwater can leak through the gaps. At the same time, if the moisture-proof film is not properly adhered and sealed, leakage can also occur.
