Installation of Hot Water Pipes in Container Houses

Admin 17 de septiembre de 2026

The installation of hot water pipes in container houses requires following steps such as site selection and fixation, pipeline connection, electrical safety, commissioning and inspection, and attention to waterproofing and maintenance. The specific operations are as follows:

I. Site Selection and Fixation

  1. Location Selection: Prioritize areas within the container that are well-ventilated, close to water sources, and near load-bearing walls. Avoid direct sunlight or long-term damp environments to reduce the risk of equipment aging.
  2. Bracket Fixation: Use expansion bolts to firmly fix the water heater bracket to the container wall. After installation, use a level to check that the bracket is not tilted to prevent equipment damage or water leakage due to uneven force distribution.

II. Pipeline Connection

  1. Water Inlet Installation: When connecting the cold water pipe, if the water pressure exceeds 0.7 MPa, install a pressure relief valve to protect the equipment. Wrap the interface with Teflon tape (3-5 turns) to prevent leakage at the threaded connection.
  2. Water Outlet Installation: It is recommended to use high-temperature-resistant materials for the hot water pipe:
    • PPR Pipe: Prefer the S2.5 series, with a design life of up to 50 years, a temperature resistance range of -20°C to 95°C, suitable for concealed installation.
    • 304 Stainless Steel Corrugated Pipe: With a temperature resistance range of -20°C to 100°C, suitable for exposed installation or gas water heaters (must comply with the national standard GB 41317-2024). The interfaces should be fixed with pipe clamps to prevent loosening due to water flow impact.
  3. Spacing Between Hot and Cold Water Pipes: Maintain a minimum spacing of 10 centimeters between hot and cold water pipes, and do not lay them in the same trench to prevent heat transfer from the hot water pipe to the cold water pipe or corrosion of the pipes by condensed water.

III. Electrical Safety

  1. Power Supply Matching: Confirm that the power of the water heater is compatible with the container's power supply system. A dedicated copper wire专线 (with a cross-sectional area of at least 4 square millimeters) should be laid separately, and equipped with a leakage protection switch (with an operating current ≤ 30 mA) to prevent overloading or electrical leakage that could cause a fire.
  2. Grounding Treatment: The metal casing must be reliably grounded, with a grounding resistance ≤ 4Ω. It can be connected to the container's steel structure or a dedicated grounding electrode through a grounding wire to reduce the risk of electric shock.

IV. Commissioning and Inspection

  1. First-time Water Filling: Open the cold water valve to fill the tank with water, and at the same time, open the hot water tap to vent the air inside the tank. After the water flow stabilizes, close the tap and check all interfaces for water leakage.
  2. Temperature Test: Set the temperature to 50°C and run it for 1-2 hours to observe whether the heating is normal and whether there are any leaks or abnormal noises in the pipeline.

V. Precautions

  1. Waterproofing Measures: Reserve a drainage floor drain below the installation location to prevent the accumulation of condensed water or leaked water. If the water heater is installed on the top, install a waterproof cover.
  2. Regular Maintenance: Check the consumption of the magnesium anode every six months (shorten the cycle in areas with hard water), and install a water softener in areas with severe scale buildup to extend the equipment's lifespan.
  3. Pipe Material Selection: For concealed installation of the main pipeline in new houses, prefer PPR hot water pipes (S2.5 series). For exposed installation or gas water heaters, 304 stainless steel corrugated pipes must be used to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
