Container House Hole Reinforcement
Reinforcement of holes in container houses requires targeted methods based on the hole location, size, and the type of house structure to ensure structural safety and stability.

I. Floor Hole Reinforcement
- Small Hole Reinforcement
When the side length of the hole (diameter of a circular hole) is ≤150mm and the live load on the floor is ≤2.0kN/m², if the number of cut steel bars is ≤5%, no reinforcement treatment is required; if the number of cut steel bars is ≤20% and the impact on the load-bearing capacity is minor, the compensation reinforcement method should be adopted. Specific operations include:
- Reinstalling the cut steel bars (Asfy) at the edge of the hole, with a total compensation amount ≥1.2 (Asfy);
- Using bonded steel plates or fiber cloth as additional compensation reinforcement, adhered to the edge of the hole to enhance load-bearing capacity.
- Large Hole Reinforcement
When the side length of the hole is >150mm or the number of cut steel bars is >20%, the following methods should be adopted based on structural calculation results:
- Bonded Steel Plate Reinforcement Method: Adhere steel plates to the surface of the floor using high-strength epoxy resin to enhance tensile strength. This method is suitable for flexural and tensile members subjected to static loads, with an ambient temperature ≤60℃, relative humidity ≤70%, and a concrete strength grade ≥C15.
- Carbon Fiber Cloth Reinforcement Method: Adhere high-strength carbon fiber cloth (with a single-fiber tensile strength ≥4000MPa) to the surface of the floor using epoxy resin impregnation adhesive. This method saves space, is easy to construct, and has excellent corrosion resistance.
- Section Enlargement Reinforcement Method: Pour concrete or grout on the upper part of the floor to increase thickness and improve load-bearing capacity. Attention should be paid to the impact of increased floor self-weight on the original structure (such as beams and columns).
II. Beam Hole Reinforcement
Pre-Hole Detection and Calculation
Systematic detection of the beam is required to determine the necessity of hole opening and locate the hole position. Use professional cutting equipment to operate strictly in accordance with specifications to avoid breaking the main reinforcement.Reinforcement Methods
- Externally Bonded Steel Section Reinforcement Method: Wrap the beam with steel sections to significantly improve load-bearing capacity, suitable for members requiring substantial load-bearing enhancement.
- Bonded Steel Plate or Carbon Fiber Reinforcement Method: Similar to floor reinforcement, enhance the flexural and shear capacities of the beam by adhering steel plates or carbon fiber cloth.
III. Special Reinforcement for Container Houses
Inter-Layer Connection Reinforcement
For multi-story container houses, reserved holes can be opened in the web plates of the top and bottom beams. Rectangular steel plates and connectors can be used to fix the upper and lower beam members, achieving coordinated work and improving overall load-bearing capacity.Box-to-Ground Connection Reinforcement
Use embedded parts and weld support column bases to the raft foundation (concrete structure) to enhance the connection firmness between the box and the ground, reduce the impact of wind loads, and improve seismic performance.
