Container House Ground Shakes Excessively

Admin 16 de septiembre de 2026

The excessive shaking of the ground in a container house may be caused by improper foundation treatment, ineffective reinforcement of the container, or resonance phenomena.

Foundation Issues

Container houses have certain requirements for the foundation. If the ground is not leveled, the container may shake due to uneven force distribution after placement. For ordinary foldable or fixed residential container houses, although the foundation requirements are not high, leveling the ground, pouring cement, and creating drainage ditches can enhance stability. If the foundation is improperly treated, such as not being compacted or having soft underlying layers, the container house is prone to shaking when subjected to external forces.

Container Reinforcement Issues

Container houses need to be effectively reinforced to ensure stability. If horizontal reinforcement (such as connecting containers on the same level with binding rods or steel wires) or vertical reinforcement (such as connecting upper and lower containers with twist locks) is not carried out, the connections between containers will be loose, and shaking is likely to occur under external forces such as passing large vehicles. Additionally, end reinforcement should not be overlooked. If anti-collision columns or sandbags are not installed, containers at the end of the stack may shake due to impacts, affecting the stability of the entire house.

Resonance Phenomena

When large vehicles pass by, their vibration frequencies may be close to the natural frequency of the container house, triggering resonance phenomena. Resonance increases the amplitude of the container house, causing significant ground shaking. Although the main body of the container house is made of high-strength steel and has a sturdy structure, it may still shake under resonance.

Solutions

For foundation issues, reinforce the foundation, such as compacting the soil and replacing soft soil layers, and ensure the ground is level. For container reinforcement issues, follow the specifications for horizontal, vertical, and end reinforcement to ensure firm connections between containers. If resonance is suspected, adjust the layout or structure of the container house to change its natural frequency and avoid being close to the vibration frequency of large vehicles.
