Container House Ground Beam

Admin 15 de septiembre de 2026

The ground beam of a container house is a key component in the structure of the container house that bears loads, disperses pressure, and ensures overall stability. It is usually made of I-beams or channel steels, and its design, reinforcement, and installation processes directly affect the load-bearing capacity and service life of the house.

1. The Core Function of the Ground Beam

As the main component of the bottom frame, the ground beam of a container house needs to bear the weight of the entire container (including loads generated by interior decoration, furniture, and personnel activities) and evenly disperse the pressure to the ground or foundation structure to avoid local settlement causing container deformation. For example, when dealing with container houses, Baotou Xinxing Color Plate Steel Structure Manufacturing Co., Ltd. adopted the method of adding C-shaped steel purlins between the bottom beams to evenly disperse the loads to each main beam, enabling the container to maintain structural stability even when stacked three layers high, addressing the issues of large spacing between the longitudinal beams of the traditional container bottom frame and insufficient floor stiffness.

2. Reinforcement and Anti-corrosion Treatment of the Ground Beam

To adapt to different usage scenarios, the ground beam needs to undergo targeted reinforcement and anti-corrosion treatment. For example, in the northwest regions with wind, sand, and temperature differences, steel is prone to rusting. It is necessary to perform shot blasting and rust removal on the container surface and then spray zinc-rich primer and polyurethane topcoat to form a protective system that can maintain an effective service life of more than 15 years. In addition, the wall thickness of the steel used for the ground beam is also a key parameter. Common specifications range from 1.5 millimeters to 3 millimeters. The thicker the wall thickness, the greater the load-bearing redundancy, but the self-weight also increases accordingly. It is necessary to balance the selection according to actual needs.

3. Connection Process between the Ground Beam and the Foundation

The connection method between the ground beam and the foundation directly affects the stability of the house. During installation, it is necessary to remove the loose soil and debris on the ground, compact the original soil layer, and pour a concrete strip foundation (the recommended width is 30 centimeters to 50 centimeters, and the depth is determined according to the thickness of the local frozen soil layer). The top surface of the foundation should be kept level, with a height difference of no more than 5 millimeters. After the container is placed in position, it is necessary to check the fit between the bottom beam and the foundation pad. If there is local suspension, it should be padded with thin steel sheets, and a level should be used to detect along the longitudinal and transverse directions of the bottom beam respectively to ensure that the levelness error is controlled within 2 millimeters per meter.
