Container House Export Data

Admin 15 de septiembre de 2026

In the first four months of 2026, the export value of container houses by enterprises across the country through the Shenzhen port reached 1.68 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.6%, with export destinations covering more than 150 countries and regions.

I. Export Scale and Growth Trend

  • Data from Shenzhen Port: In the first four months of 2026, the export value of "prefabricated temporary buildings" (mainly container houses) by enterprises across the country through the Shenzhen port reached 1.68 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.6%. This data reflects the strong growth momentum of container house exports.
  • National Data: According to data from the General Administration of Customs, in the first half of 2026, China's total export value of HS9406 prefabricated buildings (including container houses) was 2.79 billion US dollars, an increase of 45% compared to 1.93 billion US dollars in the same period last year. High-end residential buildings and data centers have become important incremental areas for exports.

II. Types and Characteristics of Export Products

  • Main Product Types: Container houses exported through the Shenzhen port mainly include prefabricated temporary buildings made of other materials and steel-structured modular building units. These products adopt standardized and modular designs, allowing for precise assembly of steel structures, walls, pipelines, and sanitary facilities in factories, and then being shipped to destinations via containers for on-site assembly.
  • Technical Advantages: Container houses offer advantages such as short construction periods, low costs, and environmental protection and energy efficiency. For example, in a modular elderly care apartment project purchased by British merchants, from the departure from a Chinese factory to the port in the UK, it took only two weeks to complete on-site hoisting and construction; in a hotel project by China Construction Science and Industry Corporation in Papua New Guinea, the overall delivery cycle was shortened by about 50% compared to traditional construction methods.

III. Export Market Distribution

  • Global Coverage: China's container house exports cover more than 150 countries and regions, including Europe, Asia, and Africa. For example, the modular housing project exported from Dongguan Port to Saudi Arabia and the tourism construction project exported by Changshu enterprises to the Maldives both demonstrate the wide application of Chinese container houses in the global market.
  • Key Markets: Countries such as Australia, New Zealand, and Switzerland have become important export markets for Chinese container houses. In addition, with the explosion of global AI computing infrastructure construction, the demand for modular buildings for data centers has increased significantly, becoming a new growth point for exports.
