Container House Drainage System

Admin 17 de septiembre de 2026

The drainage system of container houses mainly includes external, internal, top, same-floor drainage systems, as well as key components such as drainage pipe materials and ventilation systems, water seals, and odor prevention designs.

External Drainage System: During installation, ensure that the ground where the container house is located is higher than the surrounding terrain, and excavate drainage ditches around the container body. Use the terrain difference to guide rainwater and wastewater to drain naturally. In humid and rainy areas, a gable-shaped canopy can be added on the top to enhance drainage efficiency by increasing the drainage slope and prevent water accumulation from damaging the container structure.

Internal Drainage System: For areas such as kitchens and bathrooms that generate domestic wastewater, waterproof floor drains need to be installed to ensure smooth wastewater drainage. Before installation, plan the direction of the sewer pipes in advance to avoid damaging the container structure or affecting its functionality due to pipe modifications later.

Top Drainage System: Some container houses are designed with circular drainage channels on the top. Rainwater is directed into the underground drainage system through downspouts inside the columns. During construction, use structural adhesive to seal the seams of the top metal sheets and tightly attach a moisture-proof membrane to prevent rainwater leakage and internal moisture damage to the container.

Same-Floor Drainage System: This is the most commonly used and efficient drainage method for container houses. The drainage branches of the sanitary fixtures on the ground floor are collected under the floor into a horizontal main drainage pipe, which maintains a slope of ≥2% and is finally connected to the main drainage riser or the interface of the outdoor septic tank/municipal sewer network. The drainage branches on the second floor are also collected under the floor of this floor. The main drainage pipes and risers are arranged in the ceiling space of the ground floor, and sewage is discharged through pipe 'penetration', reducing floor height occupation and noise interference.

Drainage Pipe Materials and Ventilation System: Drainage pipes mainly use PVC-U pipes, which have the characteristics of tight connections and corrosion resistance. The top end of each main drainage riser must extend above the roof or high on the side wall, and a ventilation cap should be installed to balance the air pressure inside the pipes, prevent the water seal from being broken, and avoid drainage blockages or odor backflow.

Water Seal and Odor Prevention Design: A P-shaped or S-shaped trap must be installed below each drainage fixture (such as floor drains, washbasins, and sinks) to form a water seal with the stored water, effectively isolating sewer odors and pests and ensuring indoor air quality.
