Container House Daylighting and Ventilation
Admin 15 de septiembre de 2026
Container houses can achieve good daylighting and ventilation performance through reasonable design. The specific implementation methods are as follows:

I. Daylighting Design
- Large-area Glass Application
Container houses can significantly improve indoor daylighting by installing large floor-to-ceiling windows, roof skylights, and glass partitions. For example, in one case, triple-glazed windows (with a three-layer glass structure) combined with thermal-break aluminum window frames not only achieved the effect of a "bright and transparent interior" but also had better thermal insulation performance than traditional red brick walls, balancing daylighting and energy-saving needs. - Skylight and High-ceiling Design
Installing skylights on the roof can introduce top natural light, especially suitable for single-story or high-ceiling living room designs. In a container villa case, a high-ceiling living room paired with skylights created an open and bright space. At the same time, by staggered stacking containers to create atriums or passageways, the distribution of natural light was further optimized. - Glass Curtain Walls and Light-transmitting Materials
Some designs use glass curtain walls to replace part of the container walls. For example, the "White Glass Curtain Wall Sunroom" model provided by Suzhou Chengpin Integrated Housing increases the light-transmitting area to improve daylighting efficiency while maintaining structural strength.
II. Ventilation Design
- Natural Ventilation Structure
Container houses achieve air circulation through staggered layouts or reserved ventilation gaps. For example, when stacking containers in a staggered manner vertically, the ground floor can be designed as an open courtyard or passageway, creating a chimney effect that promotes the rise and expulsion of hot air. - Openable Window Systems
Using openable window types such as sliding windows and casement windows, combined with ventilation openings, enhances air convection. An export-type container mobile home clearly states that its "window system is sliding windows," allowing manual adjustment of ventilation volume. - Sunshade and Ventilation Balance
Roof eaves or balcony sunshades block direct summer sunlight while preserving side ventilation paths. For example, in one case, roof eaves reduced sun exposure, and container gaps maintained air circulation, preventing stuffiness.
III. Performance Guarantee Measures
- Material Upgrades
Selecting high-strength steel structural frames (e.g., Suzhou Zhongnan packing containers with a wind resistance rating of Level 12) ensures structural stability, providing a safe foundation for daylighting and ventilation designs. - Sealing and Waterproofing
Using structural sealant to seal the joints between glass and container bodies, combined with a three-level waterproof roof design (e.g., Suzhou Chengpin products), prevents rainwater leakage while maintaining ventilation performance. - Modular Expandability
Container houses support on-demand splicing and combination (e.g., Suzhou Zhongnan quick-assembly containers can complete the construction of 10 dormitory units in one day). By increasing the number of containers, ventilation and daylighting units can be expanded to adapt to different scenarios.
