Reasons for Corrosion of Container Houses
The main reasons for the corrosion of container houses include atmospheric corrosion, localized corrosion, stress corrosion, as well as environmental and maintenance factors.

1. Atmospheric Corrosion
The main structure of container houses is mostly made of steel. When exposed to the outdoor environment for a long time, the metal elements in the steel will react chemically with water and oxygen in the atmosphere, leading to corrosion. This corrosion is a continuous process that gradually penetrates into the interior of the steel, affecting the quality and safety of the structure. In humid or high-salt areas, the problem of atmospheric corrosion is particularly prominent because moisture and salt accelerate the chemical reaction.
2. Localized Corrosion
Localized corrosion includes crevice corrosion and galvanic corrosion. Crevice corrosion usually occurs at the connection points of container houses, such as the screw connections between the roof panels and purlins. These areas are prone to forming crevices through which moisture and air can enter the interior of the steel, triggering corrosion. Galvanic corrosion is caused by differences in the positive and negative potentials of different metal elements in the steel, with the negative potential metals being more prone to corrosion.
3. Stress Corrosion
Stress corrosion is a special type of corrosion that usually occurs when the steel is under a certain amount of stress. When sudden fission occurs in the internal structure of the steel, it can trigger stress corrosion, leading to a decrease in the load-bearing capacity of the steel and even structural failure.
4. Environmental and Maintenance Factors
The usage environment of container houses has a significant impact on their degree of corrosion. For example, in humid, high-salt, or heavily polluted environments, corrosion problems are more severe. Additionally, maintenance and upkeep during use are also crucial. If the external coating of the container house is damaged or not repaired in a timely manner, the steel will be directly exposed to the corrosive environment, accelerating the corrosion process. Regular inspection and maintenance of the external coating, as well as the use of high-quality anti-rust paint and thermal insulation coatings, can significantly improve the durability of container houses.
