How Many Square Meters Are Container Houses
Admin 15 de septiembre de 2026
The area of container houses varies depending on their type and design. Common areas include 9 square meters, 18 square meters, 21 square meters, 33 square meters, 36 square meters, etc., and they can also be customized according to needs.

Regular-sized Container Houses:
- 9 square meters: 3 meters in length, 3 meters in width, and 2.8 meters in height. This size is relatively small and is usually made when customers have special requirements, as an overly small size may result in material waste.
- 18 square meters: 6 meters in length, 3 meters in width, and 2.8 meters in height. This is a common standard-sized container house on the market, often seen in construction sites and road construction scenarios.
- 21 square meters: 7 meters in length, 3 meters in width, and 2.8 meters in height. Mostly used as two-story container mobile homes, they come with corridors and balconies.
Specially Designed Container Houses:
- 33 square meters: For example, expandable container houses. The combined size is 363m (widthlengthheight), and the expanded size is 5.563m (widthlengthheight). The indoor area can be expanded from 18 square meters to 33 square meters, meeting the needs of different groups of people, whether for single individuals or family living.
- 36 square meters: Taking the 20-foot double-wing expandable container produced by Yashun Light Steel YSHUN for a Chilean project as an example, a single set has an indoor usable area of approximately 36 square meters after expansion. Among them, two sets are designed according to residential functions, with an internal layout of two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom; the other two sets are designed as storage spaces according to the actual needs of customers.
Customized Container Houses: Customized types are generally made according to customer requirements, with sizes that can be large or small. Specific details need to be discussed with the manufacturer. For example, the 20-foot off-grid micro container house designed by Shanghai Jizhuangke only uses 4 meters of a 6-meter container, keeping the area below 10 square meters (107 square feet).
