Container Connected Houses

Admin 17 de septiembre de 2026

Houses formed by connecting containers are a modular architectural form, known as container module houses or box-type houses, characterized by rapid construction, low cost, and mobility.

I. Basic Composition and Classification
Container module houses use standard containers as basic units, forming usable spaces through combination and assembly. They adopt steel frame structures, with core materials being corrosion-resistant steel plates and eco-friendly panels, combined with ship anti-corrosion techniques, resulting in a service life of over 20 years. Their structures fall into three categories:

  1. Traditional Cargo Container-Modified Box Houses: Directly modified from discarded containers, retaining the original framework, with lower costs but limited spatial flexibility;
  2. Brand-New Welded Box-Type Mobile Houses: Welded from brand-new steel materials, customizable in size and layout according to needs, with stronger structural stability;
  3. Demountable Box-Type Mobile Houses: Components can be disassembled and reassembled, facilitating transportation and reuse, suitable for temporary needs.

II. Core Advantages

  1. High Construction Efficiency: Prefabricated components in factories, assembled on-site, with construction periods reduced by over 50% compared to traditional buildings. For example, a house assembled from five containers can be installed within a few days;
  2. Cost Control: Materials are recyclable, with low labor and transportation costs, suitable for projects with limited budgets;
  3. Flexibility and Mobility: Support multi-story combinations and spatial expansions, allowing for whole-house relocation or re-layout;
  4. Excellent Performance: Steel frame structures offer strong earthquake and deformation resistance, with good sealing, sound insulation, and heat insulation properties optimized through eco-friendly panels and insulation layers, meeting residential needs.

III. Typical Application Scenarios

  1. Emergency Sites: For instance, after the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, CIMC quickly built a school accommodating a thousand people using containers;
  2. Commercial and Tourism: The world's first recyclable container hotel in the UK, tourist attraction homestays, etc., emphasizing custom appearance and reuse rates;
  3. Engineering Camps: Focusing on installation efficiency and cost-effectiveness, providing temporary accommodation for construction personnel;
  4. Smart Facilities: Such as smart waste stations, integrating eco-friendly technologies to meet urban management needs.

IV. Customization and Sustainability
Container houses support customization in standard sizes ranging from 20 to 60 feet, with internal layouts adjustable according to functional needs (e.g., office and residential zoning). Their material recyclability exceeds 80%, aligning with green building trends, and multi-story combination designs maximize space utilization, reducing land occupation.
