Types of Portable Toilets for Construction Sites
Admin 22 de septiembre de 2026
There are various types of portable toilets for construction sites, which can be classified into the following categories based on different criteria:

I. Classification by Mobility Method
- Single-unit Portable Toilets: These are moved as a whole using cranes or forklifts without the need for additional traction devices. Their advantage lies in high flexibility, allowing precise placement in areas with concentrated floors or limited space, making them particularly suitable for construction sites with space constraints.
- Trailer-mounted Portable Toilets: These come with their own axles and traction devices, enabling them to be transferred like trailer carriages with construction vehicles. Such toilets are suitable for linear projects (such as road and pipeline laying) or projects with short durations and frequent relocations, significantly improving relocation efficiency.
II. Classification by Waste Treatment Technology
- Traditional Water-flush Toilets: These rely on a stable water supply and sewage system, using water flow to achieve cleanliness. They require配套 (should be translated as 'accompanying' or 'associated', here it means they need to be equipped with) septic tanks or municipal sewage pipelines, making them suitable for construction sites with sufficient water sources and well-established sewage conditions, but they consume a relatively large amount of water.
- Foam-sealed Toilets: These use a foaming device to generate foam that covers the toilet bowl, reducing odor diffusion through physical isolation while also reducing water consumption (only 1/10 of that of water-flush toilets). They are suitable for water-scarce areas or construction sites with high environmental protection requirements.
- Mechanically Stirred Micro-ecological Toilets: These promote the decomposition of feces by microorganisms through mechanical stirring, achieving harmless treatment. Such toilets require regular addition of microbial agents and are suitable for construction sites with long-term use and certain management capabilities.
- Waterless Packaging Toilets: These use biodegradable plastic bags to package feces, eliminating the need for water sources and sewage facilities. After use, the sealed bags can be disposed of centrally, avoiding environmental pollution, making them particularly suitable for remote construction sites with water scarcity or inconvenient municipal sewage.
III. Classification by Structural Form
- Simple Portable Toilets: These are mainly made of color-coated steel plates or plastics, with a simple structure and few internal facilities (usually only including a toilet bowl and lighting). Their advantage lies in low cost and easy installation, making them suitable for short-term construction projects (such as those with a duration of 3-6 months).
- Lift-able Portable Toilets: These are relatively large in size, adopting a steel structure framework and modular design, requiring lifting equipment for relocation. Their internal configurations are more complete (such as independent squatting positions, handwashing basins, and ventilation systems), making them suitable for construction sites that are fixed for a long time but may be relocated (such as those with a duration of over 1 year).
Summary: The classification of portable toilets for construction sites should be based on specific scenario requirements, such as spatial conditions, project duration, water supply, and environmental protection requirements. Reasonable selection of types can significantly improve construction efficiency and hygiene levels while reducing resource consumption and operational costs.
