Heating Solutions for Container Houses at Construction Sites

Admin 16 de septiembre de 2026

There are various heating methods for container houses at construction sites, and appropriate solutions can be selected according to actual conditions while strictly adhering to safety regulations.

I. Heating Methods

  1. Installing Air Conditioners and Floor Heating
Suitable for large-scale construction sites with good conditions, container dormitories can be equipped with air conditioners or floor heating. Floor heating requires modification based on the characteristics of steel materials: First, lay a 2-3 cm thick graphene XPS extruded insulation board (temperature-resistant from -20°C to 75°C) to trap heat and block moisture, preventing steel from rusting. Add an acrylic reflective film above to reduce heat loss, and then lay a snap-in floor to reflect heat into the room. This floor heating system uses electric heating, saving about 30% energy compared to traditional air conditioners, with lower energy consumption and more comfortable ground radiation heating, without issues of dryness or temperature differences, and a service life of over 50 years.

  2. Self-Heating
Heating through adding extra bedding or using electric blankets and other equipment requires special attention to electrical safety to avoid circuit overloads or short circuits.

  3. Burning Traditional Stoves
Conventional large-corrugated iron rock wool sandwich panel containers can burn coal stoves, which heat up quickly in small spaces. However, it is necessary to maintain indoor ventilation to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning and strictly supervise the fire source to avoid fires.

  4. Adding Insulation Cotton
Some manufacturers add an insulation cotton layer during production to improve thermal insulation, but the cost is higher than that of conventional containers.

II. Safety Precautions

  1. Prohibition of Open Flames: Open flames are strictly prohibited for heating or cooking inside containers to prevent fires.
  2. Limiting High-Power Appliances: Avoid using high-power appliances simultaneously in multiple dormitories to prevent circuit overloads. Ensure that the construction site's electrical circuits meet safety standards.
  3. Cigarette Butt Management: Cigarette butts must be completely extinguished and placed in safe containers, especially during nighttime rest.
  4. Maintaining Ventilation: Regularly open windows for ventilation when multiple people are living to avoid stale air or carbon monoxide buildup.
  5. Special Protection for Material Types: If the container is made of foam sandwich panels, strengthen supervision of fire and electricity use, as these materials are flammable and have poor heat resistance.

III. Recommendations for Solution Selection

  • Priority Recommendation for Floor Heating: If the budget allows, floor heating is superior to air conditioners in terms of comfort, energy efficiency, and safety, especially suitable for long-term use at construction sites.
  • Temporary Construction Sites: A combination of air conditioners and electric blankets can be used, along with additional bedding, while strengthening circuit inspections.
  • Low-Cost Solutions: Although containers with added insulation cotton have higher initial costs, they offer significant long-term thermal insulation effects. If choosing to burn stoves, equip them with carbon monoxide alarms and arrange for专人 (dedicated personnel) to be on duty.
