Relocation of Toilets in Commercial Housing

Admin 28 de septiembre de 2026

When relocating the toilet position in commercial housing, different methods can be chosen according to the drainage type:

For same-floor drainage (sunken bathroom), the bathroom floor is about 40cm lower than the floor level. The drainage pipes are within the household, making it relatively convenient for modifications. The toilet can be relocated by simply lengthening or shortening the pipes. This method has relatively low construction difficulty, has a relatively minor impact on the surrounding structure, and the probability of subsequent drainage problems is relatively low.

For inter-floor drainage (where the drainage pipes pass through the floor for drainage), there are the following methods:

  • Using a toilet offset flange: This is a relatively simple modification method. However, it is not advisable to have an offset distance exceeding 2m, as a long distance can affect the drainage effect. At the same time, it is best to create a drainage slope. Without a proper drainage slope, the sewage will not flow smoothly in the pipes, which can easily lead to blockages. Moreover, since the floor cannot be excavated, using an offset flange requires raising the floor, which may have an impact on the indoor ceiling height.
  • Converting floor drainage to wall drainage: Connect the toilet directly to the sewage riser, but the toilet can only be relocated to the adjacent wall of the sewage riser and not to the opposite wall. The advantage of this modification method is that the toilet is less likely to get blocked after modification, and it is applicable to both same-floor and inter-floor drainage. However, converting to wall drainage requires building a false wall. During decoration, it can be combined with niches to create storage space and increase practicality.
  • Modifying the sewage pipe in the neighbor's house: If you can obtain the neighbor's consent, you can directly modify the sewage pipe in the neighbor's house to the desired position. This method is relatively simple to operate, but the coordination difficulty is high. After all, it involves the neighbor's rights and interests and willingness. It requires sufficient communication and negotiation with the neighbor to reach an agreement before implementation.
