China Mobile Toilet Accidents
Several accidents have occurred in China Mobile toilets, involving aspects such as safety, hygiene, and privacy. Details are as follows:

Mobile Toilet Dragged onto Highway: Issues of Safety Supervision and Equipment Defects
On May 11, 2025, a serious accident occurred near a construction site in Wuhan. A woman using a mobile toilet was dragged into a highway ramp by a construction site truck that had not checked the toilet's status, as the toilet was only connected to the ground with simple hooks and lacked anti-dragging devices. The woman was trapped in the confined space for nearly 20 minutes. There was no emergency call device in the toilet, and the mobile phone signal was interrupted due to the shielding effect of the metal box. Eventually, the driver stopped the truck urgently after being alerted by the honking of a vehicle behind, and rescue personnel broke open the toilet to save her. The management of the involved service area admitted that the mobile toilet was a temporarily rented device, and the staff had not followed standard procedures (such as checking the fixing devices). Moreover, the “AI safety monitoring system” advertised on the toilet's official website had not actually installed weight sensors, resulting in the failure to warn of risks. In addition, in 2024, a total of 17 similar equipment operation accidents occurred in highway service areas across the country, with 60% related to insufficient staff training, exposing systemic loopholes in the mobile toilet industry in terms of safety supervision, equipment maintenance, and staff training.
Water Collection Incident in Zhejiang Mobile Store Toilet: Negligence in Hygiene Management
On March 20, a mobile store in Zhejiang was exposed to using tap water from the toilet to provide drinking water for customers. There were obvious green stains in the water bucket, and this behavior was disguised as an “affectionate water supply bucket”. After the police and the health bureau intervened in the investigation, it was found that the drinking water in the store had not been included in the company's unified supply system and was solved by the employees themselves, leading to a loss of control over hygiene standards. This incident reflects the negligence in logistics management in some stores, especially the lack of effective supervision over service links that directly contact consumers, which may pose health risks.
Light-Adjusting Glass Incident in Hangzhou 5G Smart Toilet: Privacy Protection Technology Defects
In April 2021, a privacy leakage incident occurred in a China Mobile 5G smart toilet at No. 275 Wulin Road, Hangzhou. A man forgot to turn on the fogging switch of the smart light-adjusting glass, resulting in his toilet use being witnessed by passersby on the street. The toilet used electrochromic glass technology but did not have a default fogging mode or a mandatory privacy protection mechanism, and user operation errors could lead to privacy exposure. This case highlights the ethical issues in the technological design of smart public facilities, that is, functional innovation should be based on user behavior habits and privacy security to avoid practical usage risks caused by technological complexity.
