Chaozhou Container Villa House
Admin 15 de septiembre de 2026
The Chaozhou container villa house is a movable building transformed from container-based structural modules. It combines the characteristics of being sturdy and durable, easy to construct, and cost-controllable, making it suitable for those pursuing low-cost, personalized living that can accept a modular appearance.

I. Design Considerations
- Layout and Space Planning: Functional areas can be expanded through splicing combinations or staggered stacking. For example, connecting two containers can create a flat layout of approximately 100㎡, integrating a living and dining room, two bedrooms, and a bathroom with a bathtub. Staggered designs can create rich spatial layers, with the ground floor reserved for a leisurely courtyard or passageway area to improve ventilation and lighting. For small units, it is recommended to use multi-functional furniture such as folding beds, folding tables, and integrated cabinets to enhance space flexibility.
- Lighting and Insulation: Attention should be paid to the installation of insulation layers and vapor barriers on walls and roofs, along with proper ventilation (exhaust fans, high windows). Avoid using bare steel plates directly as interior wall surfaces to prevent internal condensation.
- Courtyard and External Environment: The exterior facade can be treated with paint spraying, themed murals, hanging panels, or glass curtain walls to create a villa-like atmosphere. Containers should be elevated on pile foundations to prevent moisture and insects and facilitate site leveling.
II. Construction Process
- Rural Homesteads: For long-term residence, it is necessary to follow local requirements for building approval and provide structural drawings stamped by an engineer. Containers cannot be directly used as permanent residences without approval; otherwise, there is a risk of being identified as illegal construction. Cultivated land and basic farmland are strictly prohibited from construction, while forestry land requires forestry approval.
- Leased Land: Most leased land can only be used for temporary structures and not as permanent residences. The contract should clearly state the nature of use.
III. Post-Construction Maintenance
- Rust Prevention and Corrosion Protection: During the construction phase, all cut and welded edges must be polished and coated with epoxy primer and topcoat. Annually inspect welds, corners, bottoms, and eaves, and immediately polish and repaint any small rust spots found. In inland dry areas, heavy corrosion protection and recoating are required every 8-12 years; in southern humid areas, every 7-10 years; and in coastal areas, every 3-5 years. The container body should not be placed directly on the ground; the foundation should be elevated to prevent the bottom from being exposed to moisture.
- Waterproofing and Sealing: The sealant around doors and windows, container joints, and roof gutters should be replaced every 5-7 years. Clean roof leaves annually and strictly prohibit water accumulation on the roof.
