Carriage Transformed into Mobile Toilet

Admin 21 de septiembre de 2026

There are various forms of transforming carriages into mobile toilets, but they face some controversies and challenges, along with some successful cases.

Controversies: Some people consider on-board toilets to be a 'gimmick' created by car manufacturers, a 'pseudo-need'. Setting up a mobile public toilet in a confined carriage poses a major challenge in terms of odor control, especially in hot summer weather when excreta can easily undergo adverse 'chemical reactions', emitting unpleasant odors and affecting the interior environment of the vehicle. Moreover, in the event of a vehicle collision, the mixture of metal parts under the seats and excreta creates an unimaginable scene, significantly impacting passenger safety and psychology.

Successful Cases: The Bürstner brand has introduced the 2026 model year Bürstner Habiton, a large van based on the Mercedes Sprinter, equipped with a sliding bathroom. This bathroom offers numerous advantages; it is lightweight and can slide along tracks, containing a shower, sink, and toilet. Customers have multiple toilet options, including chemical toilets, dry toilets, and bagged toilets. The water supply and drainage design is also reasonable, with clean water provided through a hose on a reel and wastewater collected by a large tray sliding under the shower base and discharged into a wastewater tank. There is also a hatch at the end of the bed for easy maintenance of the tray.

DIY Transformations: Some young people are popularizing the transformation of vehicles into 'mobile bedrooms'. However, when setting up these bed-vehicles, they usually shower outdoors in their own tents and do not set up dedicated mobile toilets in the carriage. Additionally, some vehicle owners have transformed Amazon vans, Ford Transit vans, etc., into 'mobile homes', focusing primarily on creating comfortable living spaces, such as setting up kitchens, hidden compartments, slide-out food storage rooms, pull-out beds, etc., without mentioning the transformation of the carriage into a mobile toilet. It can be seen that the cases of DIY transforming carriages into mobile toilets are relatively rare, and the focus is often not on toilet setup.
