Camping Portable Toilet Renovation Plan

Admin 08 de octubre de 2026

The renovation of camping portable toilets should take into account airtightness, portability, and environmental protection. The following plan can be implemented step by step for reference:

1. Upgrade of Basic Configuration Choose a silver-coated toilet tent with wind and rain resistance functions, equipped with ground stakes and guy ropes to reinforce the structure and withstand strong winds. Inside, there should be breathable small windows (with insect-proof mesh screens) and storage bags. The quick-open design simplifies the setup process and improves usage efficiency.

2. Optimization of Excreta Treatment System

  • Urine Treatment: Use water-soluble or packaged urine coagulants that form a gel-like solid upon contact with water, absorbing 500ml of liquid per use to prevent leakage. These products are inexpensive and easy to carry, suitable for short camping trips.
  • Solid Excreta:
    • Folding Toilet: When unfolded, it is similar in size to a household toilet, lined with high-strength plastic bags, and sealed and discarded after use, combining hygiene and convenience.
    • Biodegradable Toilet: By adding microbial strains to accelerate the decomposition of excreta, the final products are water, carbon dioxide, and odorless organic matter. The residue can be directly used as fertilizer, suitable for ecologically sensitive areas.
    • Chemical Toilet: It has an upper and lower tank structure (freshwater tank + sealed blackwater tank) with a capacity of 10-24 liters, equipped with a flushing function and strong airtightness, suitable for scenarios with high comfort requirements.

3. Combination of Portability and Functionality

  • Packaged Sealed Toilet: The inner bucket is lined with a disposable thickened garbage bag, which is directly sealed and tightened after use without the need for cleaning, suitable for short or temporary camping trips.
  • Fixed Blackwater Tank Toilet: Commonly found in RV scenarios, the blackwater tank has a capacity of 30-100 liters and supports external sewage pipes, suitable for long-term camping but with a large volume, requiring reserved installation space.

4. Implementation of Environmental Protection and Leave No Trace Principles

  • In areas where burial is prohibited (such as nature reserves), all excreta must be packed and taken out of the campsite.
  • If digging pits is allowed, choose a downwind location at least 60 meters away from water sources, the campsite, and trails, with a digging depth of 15-20 centimeters. After use, cover with the original soil and restore the surface vegetation.
  • In low-temperature environments (nighttime temperature below 0°C), install self-regulating heating tapes on the pipes and heaters in the water tanks to prevent freezing.

5. Supplementary Humanized Details

  • Lighting and Power: The interior illumination should be no less than 100 lx, with waterproof sockets near the sink to support nighttime use and charging of small electrical appliances.
  • Item Storage: Equip with sturdy hooks and shelves for hanging clothes or placing personal items such as mobile phones and tissues.
  • Safety Design: Install an emergency assistance button that is linked to the campsite management office to ensure timely response in case of emergencies.

The renovation plan should be comprehensively selected based on the camping scenario (self-driving/hiking/RV), number of people, environmental regulations, and budget, prioritizing the core needs of airtightness, portability, and environmental protection.
