Bus Transformed into Mobile Toilet

Admin 22 de septiembre de 2026

Buses can be transformed into mobile toilets for use in temporary, crowded locations to alleviate toilet pressure.

I. Transformation Examples

During the May Day holiday at the Jinci Scenic Area in Shanxi, such an innovative measure was adopted. Due to the severe long queues at women's toilets, the scenic area not only converted men's toilets into women's toilets but also added buses as 'mobile men's toilets'. This transformation was based on a summary of past experiences, aiming to address toilet challenges during peak tourist periods. The measure was implemented starting from May 1st and might be removed after the May Day holiday, but it could be continued during future holidays.

II. Transformation Details

The transformed bus mobile toilets have specific specifications and facilities. They are 10.9 meters long and feature a bubble-sealed high-pressure water-saving flushing system inside, which effectively saves water and aligns with environmental protection and energy-saving concepts. In the men's toilet section, there are three sitting positions and two urinals to meet the different needs of male tourists; in the women's toilet section, there are five sitting positions to accommodate the relatively longer toilet times of female tourists. Additionally, each men's and women's toilet is equipped with a sink for tourists' convenience. The toilets are also equipped with ventilation windows to ensure air circulation and reduce odors. There are emergency call buttons to handle unexpected situations. The buses are also equipped with fresh air systems to further enhance the user experience.

III. Implementation Effects

This optimization measure has achieved remarkable results. During peak tourist periods, the average daily reception capacity of toilets in the area increased significantly from about 3,000 person-times to 5,000 person-times. This not only relieved the toilet pressure for tourists but also improved the service quality and tourist satisfaction of the scenic area.

IV. Future Prospects

The measure of transforming buses into mobile toilets provides a new solution for toilet problems in temporary, crowded locations. In the future, as the tourism industry continues to develop and tourist needs continue to change, this transformation method is expected to be applied and promoted in more scenic areas and public places.
