Books on Container House Design

Admin 17 de septiembre de 2026

The following two books on container house design are highly recommended:

"Container Architecture Design" is co-authored by Zou Dezhi, Wang Zhuonan, and Wang Lei, three teachers from the School of Architecture at Inner Mongolia University of Technology, and published by Jiangsu Phoenix Science and Technology Press in 2018. The book focuses on the core elements of container architecture design, systematically organizing relevant laws, regulations, and construction standards to clarify the regulatory framework that must be followed during the construction process. It provides a detailed analysis of the specifications, structural systems, and architectural construction requirements of different types of containers, considering their inherent characteristics. For example, it covers the dimensions, load-bearing capacity, and connection methods of standard containers, offering foundational data to support design practices. Through categorized presentations of classic domestic and international cases, covering residential, commercial, and public buildings, the book visually demonstrates the possibilities of container architecture in terms of spatial utilization, functional combination, and aesthetic expression, helping readers understand how to transform standardized modules into diverse architectural forms.

"Integrated Container House Design" is authored by Mou Lianbao and published by China Water & Power Press in 2019, focusing on the technical system of modular integrated housing. The book takes "packable transportation" as its core design concept, delving into the mechanical principles of three-section frame structures and the logic of module combination, verifying their stability and adaptability through full-scale experimental data. It provides detailed technical solutions for key aspects of engineering applications, such as the thermal insulation performance of enclosure structures, the integrated layout of water and electricity systems, and the standardized processes for transportation and installation. Drawing on overseas project experience, the book proposes climate and policy adaptation strategies, such as structural optimizations for high-temperature and high-humidity regions or cold regions, as well as measures to address building regulations in different countries, offering practical references for modular architectural design in a global context.

The two books approach the subject from the perspectives of design specifications and engineering practice, respectively. The former is suitable for readers who need to systematically grasp the theoretical foundations of container architecture, while the latter focuses more on technical details and cross-regional applications, allowing readers to choose based on their specific needs.
