Balcony Mobile Toilet

Admin 20 de septiembre de 2026

Currently, there are no standardized 'mobile toilet' products specifically designed for balconies on the market, but similar functions can be achieved through combined solutions or renovations. The following provides an explanation from three aspects: existing product types, renovation ideas, and precautions.

I. Existing Related Product Types

  1. Simple Mobile Sanitary Facilities
    Basic equipment such as 'mobile plastic sinks with faucets for handwashing' exists in the market, which can meet temporary handwashing needs on balconies. However, these have a single function, lack the ability to handle waste, and cannot replace a complete toilet. Their advantages lie in being lightweight and easy to install, suitable for scenarios where balcony space is limited and only basic cleaning functions are required.

  2. Smart Mobile Public Toilet Solutions
    Some public facilities adopt U-shaped Apple Pod designs, equipped with waste collection tanks, sensor-activated handwashing, automatic lighting systems, and use fluorocarbon-painted aluminum panels for exterior walls, featuring waterproof and corrosion-resistant properties. However, these products are relatively large in size (usually 2-3 meters long), require professional installation, and are costly (approximately 50,000 to 100,000 yuan), making them more suitable for public scenarios such as scenic spots and construction sites, and difficult to directly adapt to family balconies.

II. Ideas for Renovating Balconies to Achieve Sanitary Functions

  1. Relocation of Dry and Wet Areas
    If there is sufficient space on the balcony, you can refer to the design of 'connecting the bathroom and the balcony' and relocate the dry area (such as the washing and drying machine, bathroom cabinet) or the wet area (such as the shower) to the balcony. It is necessary to plan the drainage pipes in advance (which need to be connected to the main drainage system of the house), the construction of the waterproof layer (the recommended height for waterproofing on the walls is ≥1.8 meters), and ventilation design (installing an exhaust fan or a fresh air system).

  2. Combined Mobile Toilet Solution
    You can choose a combination of 'portable toilet + waste collection tank + simple partition':

    • Portable Toilet: Select a plastic toilet with a sealed lid, paired with biodegradable garbage bags or a dedicated waste collection tank, and clean it regularly;
    • Simple Partition: Use a folding screen or a lightweight partition wall to divide an independent space, balancing privacy and flexibility;
    • Ventilation Optimization: Install a small exhaust fan or place deodorizers to reduce odors.
      This solution has a relatively low cost (approximately 500 to 2000 yuan), but requires manual cleaning of waste, making it suitable for temporary use or small balconies.

III. Key Precautions

  1. Compliance: It is necessary to confirm whether the balcony is allowed to be renovated into a sanitary functional area to avoid damaging the house structure or violating property regulations.
  2. Drainage and Waterproofing: The recommended drainage slope for the balcony is ≥2%, and the waterproof layer should cover the ground and the corners of the walls to prevent leakage.
  3. Load-Bearing Limit: If installing large equipment (such as a storage water heater), it is necessary to calculate the load-bearing capacity of the balcony in advance (usually the load-bearing capacity per square meter is ≤250 kg).

Suggestion: If long-term use is required, prioritize the 'relocation of dry and wet areas' renovation solution; if it is for temporary needs, the combined mobile toilet can be chosen. The specific solution needs to be comprehensively evaluated based on the budget, space size, and frequency of use.
