Altay Mobile Toilet Renovation
Altay has achieved remarkable results in the renovation of mobile toilets, implementing multiple measures to enhance the service level of tourist toilets.

I. Optimization of Toilet Quantity and Layout
Altay region currently has 203 tourist toilets in various tourist attractions, with a total of 2,956 toilet stalls, and 37 toilets distributed along roadways. This year, it plans to add 19 new mobile toilets, providing an additional 46 toilet stalls, further expanding coverage. Along the Ahe Highway, 54 public toilets and 114 squat stalls have been set up, forming a toilet network centered around tourist attractions and supplemented by transportation arteries, effectively alleviating the difficulty of tourists finding toilets.
II. Facility Upgrades and Service Guarantees
Newly built and renovated toilets are equipped with basic facilities such as heated tap water, mirrors, toilet paper, and hand sanitizer. Some areas have added barrier-free facilities to meet diverse needs. Property management companies have formed professional maintenance teams and equipped them with sewage suction trucks and other equipment to ensure full-process coverage of public toilet hygiene, including regular cleaning, waste disposal, and equipment maintenance, ensuring a clean toilet environment.
III. Enhancement of All-for-one Tourism Services
Altay region has combined toilet renovation with the improvement of tourism service quality, implementing a full-day cleaning system and responding quickly to tourist needs through dynamic inspections and instant feedback mechanisms. For example, the public toilets along the Ahe Highway achieve "clean-as-you-go" through professional management, enhancing the tourist experience.
IV. Policy Support and Regional Coordination
The Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Department of Culture and Tourism has initiated the addition of mobile toilets along popular self-drive routes (such as the Tasha Ancient Road and S101). In 2023, Xinjiang plans to add 280 mobile toilets, with 220 already added by the end of July (109 in use and 111 under assembly). As a key region, Altay's renovation experience serves as a model for the entire region, promoting the standardization of tourism public services.
V. Social Benefits and Future Plans
The renovation of mobile toilets has not only improved the tourism environment but also boosted local employment (such as hiring maintenance teams), facilitating the connection between the "toilet revolution" and rural revitalization. In the future, Altay plans to integrate with smart tourism systems, introducing real-time toilet stall monitoring, one-click navigation, and other functions to further enhance the精细化 (refined) management level of toilets.
