Zhoushan New Energy Container House

Admin September 15, 2026

The situation regarding Zhoushan's new energy container houses can be explained in conjunction with the new energy application scenarios at Ningbo Zhoushan Port. Currently, there are no direct cases where containers serve as the main body of houses and are fully new energy-powered. However, the port's practices in new energy container transportation, new energy equipment application, and energy system integration provide technical references and scenario extension possibilities for new energy container houses.

New Energy Container Transportation and Equipment Application

Ningbo Zhoushan Port has widely adopted new energy heavy trucks and electric container trucks. For example, in September 2024, 370 new energy heavy truck orders were placed, and the total number of electric container trucks in use across the port exceeded 360. The electrification rate of container trucks in the Meishan Port Area exceeded 80%, and 130 self-driving container trucks were put into operation. These vehicles are purely electric, with an electricity cost of about 1 yuan per kilometer, saving over 60% in costs compared to traditional diesel container trucks and achieving zero tailpipe emissions. Additionally, the world's largest 10,000-ton pure electric intelligent container ship, the "Ningyuan Diankun," made its maiden voyage from Ningbo Zhoushan Port. Powered by box-type batteries, it reduces carbon emissions by over 1,400 tons annually. Its intelligent route planning and automatic collision avoidance technologies serve as a model for new energy transportation equipment.

Port New Energy Integration

Ningbo Zhoushan Port has constructed an integrated "wind-solar-storage-shore" energy system, providing a technical pathway for the energy self-sufficiency of new energy container houses. The Meishan Port Area has installed five megawatt-class wind turbines, generating over 57.56 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, sufficient to meet the 24-hour electricity needs of a container ship. The distributed photovoltaic power station generates 1.62 million kilowatt-hours annually, and with energy storage equipment, it achieves "self-generation and self-use, with surplus electricity fed into the grid," with a clean energy self-use rate of 60%. The system monitors diesel, LNG, electricity, and water data in real-time through an integrated energy management system, optimizing energy allocation and addressing the challenge of new energy's dependence on weather conditions. Its modular design can be transferred to container house scenarios.

Potential Directions for New Energy Container Houses

Based on port practices, new energy container houses can explore the following directions: First, integrate photovoltaic and energy storage systems, using container roofs to install photovoltaic panels and pairing them with small energy storage devices for off-grid power supply. Second, adopt electrified equipment, such as electric forklifts and intelligent handling robots, to reduce indoor carbon emissions. Third, draw on the port's intelligent control technologies to monitor house energy consumption through IoT platforms and optimize energy use efficiency. For example, the intelligent battery swap station in the Meishan Port Area can complete a battery swap in less than 5 minutes, and such rapid energy replenishment technologies can be extended to the maintenance of electric equipment in container houses.
