Public Toilet Construction Planning
Zhengzhou adheres to the principle of planning first. The urban management department, in collaboration with the planning department, has formulated the 'Zhengzhou Metropolitan Area Environmental Sanitation Facilities Special Plan (2017-2035)'. During the concentrated construction period, Zhengzhou has built a total of 1,650 new public toilets and upgraded 865 existing ones, basically achieving rational layout, user-friendly facilities, regular maintenance, and institutionalized management. In 2021, Zhengzhou was selected as one of the top ten cities in China for convenient toilet access.

Its technology for treating organic waste using microorganisms is included in the National 863 Program.
