Steps for Using Mobile Toilets in Zhejiang

Admin October 02, 2026

The steps for using mobile toilets in Zhejiang are as follows:

1. Entering the Toilet
After opening the door of the mobile toilet, immediately close the door latch. Some mobile toilets have a status indicator on the latch design. When the latch is pulled up, the exterior will display an "Occupied" status through indicator lights or signs to prevent awkward situations where external individuals accidentally push the door. If the latch does not have a status indicator, it is advisable to quietly confirm that the door is securely locked after entering to ensure privacy and safety.

2. Choosing the Toilet Method
Mobile toilets in Zhejiang typically offer user-friendly designs, allowing users to choose between a seat cushion or a sit-down/squat-down toilet method based on their needs. For sit-down toilets, some toilets are equipped with disposable seat covers or disinfectant sprays, which can be used before use to ensure hygiene. For squat-down toilets, pay attention to the non-slip design on the floor to prevent falls due to slipperiness.

3. Post-Toilet Operations

  • Flushing the Squat Toilet: If using a squat-down toilet, after finishing, step on the black spherical button located at a specific position (or the button labeled "Flush") to automatically initiate the flushing process. Some newer mobile toilets use sensor-based flushing, where the system automatically triggers after the user leaves, eliminating the need for manual operation.
  • Washing Hands: The handwashing area in mobile toilets is usually equipped with foot-operated or sensor-based faucets. After stepping on the black spherical button (or the button labeled "Water Out"), the faucet will release clean water. After washing hands, dry them with paper towels or a hand dryer. If the toilet does not provide hand soap, it is recommended to bring portable disinfectant products.

4. Leaving the Toilet
After use, first pull open the door latch (at this point, the exterior status indicator switches to "Unoccupied"), confirm that the door is fully open before leaving. If the toilet is equipped with a trash bin, dispose of used paper towels and other waste in it to prevent clogging the pipes. When leaving, gently close the toilet door to reduce noise disturbance.

Precautions:

  • Mobile toilets have limited space, so avoid carrying excessive items during use to prevent bumps or drops.
  • If any facilities inside the toilet are found to be damaged (such as a malfunctioning latch or flushing system), promptly contact the management staff for repairs to avoid affecting subsequent use.
  • When using mobile toilets in summer, pay attention to ventilation. Some toilets are equipped with exhaust fans or air vents, which can be manually opened to reduce odors.
