Zhejiang Mobile Public Toilet

Admin September 28, 2026

Zhejiang mobile public toilets are facilities that can be moved as a whole and provide toilet services to the public. They have characteristics such as mobility, modularity, and ease of transportation, making them suitable for various locations.

I. Typical Cases of Zhejiang Mobile Public Toilets

  1. The First Movable Landscape Public Toilet in Hangzhou: Located at the intersection of Qianchao Road and Sanxin Road on the Qiantang River embankment in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, this toilet was introduced from Xiamen by the Jianggan District Urban Management Bureau under the guidance of the Hangzhou Municipal Urban Management Bureau and jointly built with the Sijiqing Subdistrict. It opened on June 29, 2019. The toilet was fully produced in a factory and then transported to the site for hoisting and installation. After connecting to pipelines, it could be used immediately, and its location could be adjusted later to save construction costs. Internally, it is equipped with urinals, squat toilets, washbasins, and other facilities, and features functions such as playing music when the door is closed, automatic flushing when the door is opened, and deodorization and sterilization. There are signs around the toilet, and during the pilot period, it was open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

  2. Customized Mobile Toilet for a Camping Site in Zhejiang: There are cases in Zhejiang where customers have customized mobile toilets. For example, Mr. Wang in Zhejiang customized a two-compartment toilet for his camping site. The exterior wall is emerald green, and the overall shape is an apple pod. The exterior wall uses thermal-insulating metal carved panels. This customized mobile toilet not only meets the needs of specific locations but also reflects the diversity and flexibility of mobile toilets.

II. Definition and Characteristics of Mobile Toilets

A mobile toilet (Portable toilet) refers to a facility that can be moved as a whole and placed at locations with fixed or temporary needs to provide toilet services to the public and customers. It has advantages such as mobility, modularity, and ease of transportation. It originated from the temporary and阶段性 (phased, here it means for a certain period) needs for toilets in specific situations. The government deploys mobile public toilets in areas where it is relatively difficult to build fixed public toilets to make up for the shortage of toilet supply and unreasonable layout.

III. Suitable Locations for Mobile Toilets

Mobile toilets are suitable for stations, docks, tourist attractions, villa areas, newly built residential areas, large construction sites, squares, densely populated public places, and bustling commercial streets. These places often require mobile toilets to provide convenient toilet services due to high foot traffic, limited space, or high costs of building fixed public toilets.
