At 01:13 on November 11, 2024, a fire broke out at the Rijiansheng building materials store in Jinli Town, Gaoyao District, Zhaoqing. The fire started in a container house used as employee housing. The site had many safety hazards: flammable container panel rooms used as dwellings; no effective fire separation between lodging and business areas; chaotic electrical wiring and power strips; clutter at the container doorway blocking escape; and no necessary firefighting equipment. Three people died. This underscores the need for fire safety when using container houses.
