Zhangzhou Ancient City Mobile Bus Toilet
The Zhangzhou Ancient City mobile bus toilet is an innovative facility equipped by the Zhangzhou Environmental Sanitation Center to alleviate the difficulty of tourists finding toilets. It is transformed from a 12-meter bus and features independent flushing, sewage collection, and air-conditioning systems, serving up to 1,600 people per day.

Facility Configuration and Functional Features
This mobile bus toilet is converted from a discarded bus into a functional public toilet, equipped with 7 independent toilet stalls (separated for men and women), with cubicle designs ensuring privacy. The facilities include flush tanks and domestic sewage storage tanks, enabling independent circulation and treatment to avoid direct discharge impacting the environment. Additionally, an air-conditioning system is installed inside the bus, effectively improving the issues of traditional mobile toilets being stuffy in summer and cold in winter, enhancing user comfort. Its daily capacity exceeds 1,600 people, significantly alleviating the toilet pressure during peak tourist periods in the Zhangzhou Ancient City.
Practical Problems Solved
As a popular tourist destination, the Zhangzhou Ancient City experiences a surge in tourist numbers during holidays, with a limited number of existing fixed public toilets often leading to long queues. The introduction of the mobile bus toilet, through flexible deployment (adjustable location based on tourist flow dynamics) and efficient service (high capacity, rapid turnover), effectively diverts crowds and reduces tourist waiting times. For example, during weekends or holidays, the facility can be strategically placed in areas with high tourist density, complementing the surrounding fixed public toilets.
Supporting Convenience Measures
In addition to the mobile bus toilet, the Zhangzhou Ancient City also promotes the construction of the "Convenient Toilet Alliance", collaborating with some street-side merchants to open their internal restrooms for tourist use. These merchants uniformly display blue signs at their entrances, allowing tourists to quickly locate available toilets through the signs. This initiative not only expands the coverage of toilet resources but also enhances service efficiency through a government-enterprise cooperation model, forming a diversified solution of "mobile public toilets + merchant sharing".
Environmental Protection and Sustainability
The design of the mobile bus toilet emphasizes environmental friendliness: the sewage storage tank can be regularly emptied and treated to avoid pollution; the flushing system adopts water-saving technology to reduce water consumption. Meanwhile, the bus transformation method achieves waste reuse, aligning with the concept of a circular economy. Its flexible deployment also reduces the impact of fixed public toilet construction on the historical landscape of the ancient city, balancing functionality with cultural preservation needs.
