Yongnian Container House Construction

Admin September 15, 2026

The construction of container houses in Yongnian requires comprehensive consideration of various factors such as design, construction, and maintenance.

I. Design Planning

  • Layout and Space Utilization: Choose between splicing combinations or staggered stacking methods to expand functional areas based on needs. For example, connecting two containers can create a flat layout of approximately 100㎡, including an integrated living and dining area, two bedrooms, and a bathroom with a bathtub. Staggered designs can create rich spatial layers, with the ground floor reserved for a leisure courtyard or passageway to improve ventilation and lighting. For small units, it is recommended to use multifunctional furniture such as folding beds, folding tables, and integrated cabinets to enhance space flexibility.
  • Lighting and Insulation: Plan the position and number of windows reasonably to ensure sufficient indoor lighting. At the same time, ensure proper insulation for walls and roofs to prevent condensation and enhance living comfort.
  • Courtyard and External Environment: The exterior facade can be beautified through paint spraying, themed murals, cladding, or glass curtain walls to shed the industrial look and create a villa-like atmosphere. Container houses are elevated on pile foundations to prevent moisture and pests and facilitate site leveling.

II. Construction

  • Approval Procedures: If constructing on rural homestead land, follow local requirements to obtain construction approval and provide structural drawings stamped by an engineer. Do not directly set up containers as permanent residences without approval, as this may risk being identified as illegal construction. Construction on cultivated land and basic farmland is strictly prohibited, while forestry approval is required for forest land. Leased land is mostly suitable for temporary structures, and the contract should clearly state the nature of use.
  • Construction Process: Choose a qualified professional company for construction to ensure smooth grinding of cutting and welding edges and the application of epoxy primer and topcoat to prevent rust.

III. Post-construction Maintenance

  • Rust Prevention and Corrosion Resistance: Inspect welds, corners, bottoms, eaves, and other areas annually, and immediately grind and repaint any small rust spots. Re-coating for heavy-duty corrosion protection is required every 8-12 years in dry inland areas, every 7-10 years in humid southern areas, and every 3-5 years in coastal areas.
  • Waterproof Sealing: Replace the sealant around doors and windows, container joints, and roof gutters every 5-7 years. Clean roof leaves annually and strictly prohibit water accumulation on the roof.
  • Preventing Internal Condensation: Ensure proper insulation and vapor barriers for walls and roofs, maintain good ventilation, and avoid using bare steel plates directly as indoor wall surfaces.
