Yangzhou Rural Mobile Toilets
The situation regarding mobile toilets in rural areas of Yangzhou mainly revolves around the rural toilet revolution, achieving remarkable results in renovation achievements, technical models, renovation principles, and maintenance measures.
In terms of renovation achievements, since the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Yangzhou has made outstanding progress in the rural toilet revolution, completing the renovation or construction of nearly 100,000 rural sanitary household toilets. It ranks at the forefront in the central and northern Jiangsu regions, significantly improving rural sanitary conditions.
Regarding technical models, four technical models are implemented for the newly renovated toilets. The first is the brick-built ordinary three-compartment septic tank, a relatively traditional and stable model that effectively treats feces in a harmless manner. The second is the three-compartment culvert septic tank, which utilizes a culvert structure and features relatively simple construction and lower costs. The third is the integrated three-compartment septic tank, designed for easy installation and occupying a small area due to its integrated design. The fourth is the sewage interception and pipe connection model combined with rural sewage pipeline network renovation. For villages with sewage pipeline network construction tasks, household toilet feces are treated in a harmless manner in an integrated way, and the treated sewage is directly connected to the pipeline network, achieving efficient sewage treatment and discharge.
In terms of renovation principles, toilet renovation is based on the voluntary participation of farmers, fully considering the actual conditions of rural production and life, and implementing measures tailored to each household. Generally, the renovation focuses on brick-built three-compartment septic tanks, which are highly adaptable and can meet the needs of most rural households. For villages with sewage pipeline network construction tasks, all household toilet feces are treated in a harmless manner in an integrated way. At the same time, toilet rooms and fixtures are renovated, with the installation of sit-down toilets, squat toilets, water tanks, etc., to enhance the comfort of farmers when using the toilets.
Regarding maintenance measures, Yangzhou has formulated and issued the "Guiding Opinions on the Maintenance of Rural Household Toilets in Yangzhou City" and is exploring the construction of regional maintenance centers for rural household toilets. It aims to achieve the goal of having someone to repair broken toilets and someone to clean full septic tanks for farmers, ensuring the long-term normal use of rural toilets.
