Wuhan Movable Public Toilets

Admin October 10, 2026

Wuhan has implemented construction measures for movable public toilets, providing convenience for citizens and tourists in multiple areas.

On Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street, new movable public toilets have been added. As a popular commercial district in Wuhan, Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street is quite long. Previously, tourists faced the inconvenience of lacking restrooms, especially for groups such as the elderly who couldn't hold it in. The newly added movable public toilets have effectively solved this problem, offering a convenient restroom environment for tourists.

As the May Day holiday approached, the sanitation department in Jiang'an District added 30 movable public toilets in the courtyard at No. 27 Lihuangpi Road. This was to address the restroom challenges brought about by the surge in tourist numbers during holidays. These movable public toilets are well-equipped with convenient facilities. Each toilet cubicle is equipped with a foot-operated flush, a clothes hook, and safety handrails. They also provide free tissue paper and hand sanitizer, enhancing the user experience. The operating hours of the public toilets are uniformly set from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, fully covering peak tourist times during daytime sightseeing and nighttime leisure activities, meeting the needs of tourists at different times. In addition, the sanitation department has added 7 restroom directional signs and 5 restroom maps in core tourist areas such as Bagong House, clearly marking the specific locations and walking distances of various public toilets to help tourists find them quickly. During the holiday period, six full-time cleaning staff are arranged to be responsible for the hygiene cleaning, facility maintenance, and order guidance of the movable public toilets throughout the process. They conduct a cyclic flushing and comprehensive disinfection of all toilet cubicles every two hours and establish a continuous two-shift inspection system. In case of any facility failures or hygiene issues, they respond and handle them promptly, ensuring the hygiene and safety of the public toilets. These movable public toilets and guiding facilities will be deployed as needed during holidays and major events and will be uniformly stored and managed on a daily basis to minimize their impact on the streetscape.
