Mobile Toilets for the Winter Olympics
Admin October 07, 2026
There are mainly two types of mobile toilets used at the Winter Olympics: intelligent eco-friendly mobile public toilets and waterless non-flush ecological toilets.

Intelligent Eco-Friendly Mobile Public Toilets:
- Widely Applied: As the only designated toilet product for the Beijing Medal Plaza area of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games, a total of 119 units have been deployed from January 9, 2022, to the present. They have provided services for 43 days in total, with a user count of up to 56,583. They are mainly distributed in venues such as the Beijing Medal Plaza and the National Sliding Center in the Yanqing competition area.
- Advanced Technology:
- Contactless Operation: The entire process can be contactless. A simple wave of the hand can open and close the door, change the toilet seat cover, wash hands, dry hands, and deodorize. It is also equipped with bilingual (Chinese and English) voice prompts, an SOS button, intelligent emergency calls, barrier-free handrails, automatic toilet flushing, and other caregiving functions.
- Efficient Epidemic Prevention: The air filter uses a new material that is resistant to the COVID-19 virus, with a sterilization rate of up to 97%. It applies technologies such as negative-pressure sterilization and disinfection with down-draft exhaust, intelligent air disinfection and filtration, and intelligent disinfection of the water supply and sewage systems. It is equipped with nano-mist disinfection nozzles. After a user leaves the toilet, it automatically initiates disinfection of the toilet bowl, trash can, and sewage pipes, achieving one-person-one-disinfection.
- Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency: Through air-water hand washing and powered sewage discharge technologies, the water-saving rate reaches 70%. Through intelligent power control technology, when the air conditioning (cooling or heating) is turned on, the power consumption is only 0.6 kilowatt-hours per hour. It can also be equipped with photovoltaic and wind power generation according to regional conditions.
- Intelligent Management and Control: The company has independently developed a visual cloud-based management and control APP. Maintenance personnel can use the APP to view the equipment operation status of each toilet cubicle in real-time. After a toilet user sends a distress signal, on-site staff will be automatically notified for rescue within 35 seconds.
Waterless Non-Flush Ecological Toilets:
- Highly Recognized in Application: Installed as part of the facilities in venues such as the National Speed Skating Oval and the Shougang Big Air. Due to their high recognition by Chinese and foreign athletes and staff during their service at the Winter Olympics, they will transition from being "temporary workers" to "permanent workers" and continue to support future events.
- Unique Technology:
- No Water Required: Using world-leading microbial degradation technology, these toilets are as clean and hygienic as water-flush toilets without the need for water flushing after use. Excrement passes through mechanical devices inside the toilet bowl into a biological tank. The biological tank is designed with a special high-temperature treatment process that can quickly raise the temperature to above 60 - 70 degrees Celsius, accelerating the decomposition rate, improving treatment efficiency, and killing pathogenic microorganisms to prevent the spread of pathogens. For odor, biological deodorizing agents have been designed and constructed.
- Convenient Mobility: Their appearance is similar to that of mobile toilets on streets and in scenic spots. Without water supply and drainage pipes, they are mobile, easy to install, and ready for immediate use. Their light and portable nature meets the needs of athletes and staff in various areas during the competition.
- Low Cost: Without the need for water, back-end treatment, or sewage pumping and transportation, and without the need for water supply and drainage networks, they significantly reduce construction costs and long-term operation and maintenance costs. Only one replacement of biological bacteria per year is required to turn waste into organic fertilizer.
