Width of Prefabricated Panels in Building Construction

Admin September 19, 2026

The widths of prefabricated panels in building construction are mostly 500mm and 600mm, with other width specifications also available. However, 400mm and 500mm have become mainstream due to their strong adaptability, and special projects may use other widths.

In building construction, prefabricated panels are a common building component with a variety of width specifications to meet different architectural design and construction needs. The most common widths of prefabricated panels are 500mm and 600mm. These two specifications are widely used in the market, primarily due to their good adaptability and construction convenience. Prefabricated panels with a width of 500mm can better adapt to various building layouts, while those with a width of 600mm perform excellently in scenarios requiring larger spans.

In addition to the two common specifications mentioned above, prefabricated panels also come in other width specifications. For example, four-hole panels typically correspond to a width of around 400 millimeters, which is suitable for scenarios with low load-bearing requirements or limited space. Five-hole panels, on the other hand, correspond to a width of 500 millimeters, matching the width of the common 500mm prefabricated panels but with a different number of holes, possibly for specific structural needs.

It is worth noting that prefabricated panels with widths of 400mm and 500mm have become mainstream due to their strong adaptability. These two specifications can meet the needs of most conventional buildings and are easy to procure and replace in the market. However, in some special projects, such as large public buildings, industrial plants, or buildings under special geological conditions, other widths of prefabricated panels may be required to meet specific design requirements.

Special projects may use prefabricated panels of other widths. These specially-width prefabricated panels are usually custom-produced according to the specific needs of the project to ensure they can meet specific load-bearing, span, or space requirements. During the design and construction process, engineers will comprehensively consider factors such as the structural characteristics of the building, its intended use, and on-site conditions to select the most appropriate width specification for the prefabricated panels.
